How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

I didnt like the fact that on the last day i received a gift coupon of 50% discount to my next trip however when i went to reception i was told that i’ll have to pay 1800$ in order to take it ! What the heck !!!

Verified reviewHigh quality, from the staff, the atmosphere was spa like. The rooms were plush, the bed and bedding were dreamy. The shower was like being in a spa. The food was 5 star Michelin quality. The nighttime shows and speakeasy were something we looked forward to even after all day in the sun.
There wasn’t one thing not to like about this hotel.

Verified reviewOverall, Secrets Moxche is a beautiful, clean and modern resort with excellent food and service - hands down the best food choice and preparation we've experienced in Cancun/Riviera Maya region! Since it's adults only, the resort is generally quiet, with lots of greenery and private shady coves around the property and the various pools. Easy to find more private spots away from the main pools where activities and music are going on if desired. Music throughout the day and evening plus the nightly shows were WONDERFUL! Beach area is small but clean with nice sand and plenty of chairs. There's obviously a ton of care for quality food and service in the restaurants ESPECIALLY at the steakhouse and Asian restaurants. Buffet was excellent too with lots of "customized" choices like omelets, tacos, and pasta dishes along with prepared dishes. We experienced friendly, quick service in all of the bars and restaurants so made dinners and evenings super pleasant. Rooms are clean, very quiet, and comfortable - junior suite was spacious with an AWESOME private balcony with a tub in the oceanfront room we had chosen (and paid extra for - most rooms were ocean view and had smaller but nice balconies many with tubs too). Rooftop club area in main building was beautiful with an awesome view, but in an inconvenient location far away from rooms and beach area which some people might prefer, but we didn't use (see dislikes)
For the price we paid at a 5-star resort and extra for a room upgrade and "Club" level, I'm expecting near perfection. So why not a 10 rating: 1) If you're a smoker the single, small, designated area is insufficient and inconvenient ESPECIALLY upon arrival and departure from the resort - we really need a couple more areas not so far from the pool and restaurant areas 2) Mini-bar refilling was a daily battle - really Secrets??!! Shouldn't have to go chasing staff to get water bottles refilled in the room - if anything, your staff should be paying extra attention to the premium rooms. 3) Didn't see the advantage / amenities of club level. The location of the lounge and the rooftop area in the main building at the entrance are so far from everything else - just was annoying (especially if you are on the ocean-front and a smoker - see point 1 above) 4) Paths are SO ROUGH they are dangerous for walking in any sort of heel for women, I'm surprised you haven't had injuries, plus this makes the service carts sound incredibly loud compared to generally peaceful vibe. So much for the sound of the ocean lol. Maybe some upgraded tires on the service carts might help? (rubber instead of metallic) Last, the room was strangely humid - more than we've experienced anywhere else in Mexico. A/C seemed fine for temp but registered 68% humidity (too high).

Property was fine, but it couldn’t accommodate all the guests. There were never chairs available by any pool. All the restaurants also had a long wait every night and every restaurant, even the breakfast buffet.

Verified reviewThe resort is very beautiful and clean. The entertainment services were excellent, with fun shows at night, volleyball during the day, and a great nightclub.
We went there for a friend’s wedding, and more than half of our group ended up with food poisoning or the flu. I read some other reviews mentioning that people got bacterial infections after visiting this resort. I’m not sure if it’s due to spoiled raw seafood or the water. If you’re visiting this resort, make sure to drink bottled water and stick to fully cooked seafood. To the resort manager: You should take this issue seriously and conduct a thorough investigation. We definitely won’t be returning to this resort, considering how expensive it is and the fact that we all got sick.

Service was very slow & not that great. Had to request/ask for things multiple times before it gets done. Long waiting time for food/tables at restaurants even when there are empty tables - feels short staffed. Food was very disappointing, advertised as 11 restaurants but only 5 restaurant options for dinner - less options for lunch & breakfast (as they are mostly closed). Food choices & taste was very disappointing. On one night, we went to 3 different restaurants, all of which the food wasn’t great. Not enough food options at the buffet. We booked the preferred club room, and meant to have a concierge daily on our floor, but never saw this person - had to go to main reception every time we needed something.
