How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe grounds are beautiful and there’s plenty of space to explore!
It was a bit expensive for the low season.

Verified reviewExcellent location, just next to entrance of Uxmal archaeologic site. Gardens, pools and rooms very pleasantly designed and well taken care of. Jungle vibe is amazing.
Price is quite elevated, as is that of the restaurant. There are on other restaurants nearby.

Verified reviewWe liked: - the location of the Lodge - the two large swimming pools - the size of the room and the terraces - the breakfast.
The room lacks natural light. It would need to be refreshed, looks a bit old fashioned for the price. Restaurant is expensive.

Verified reviewLocation was nice, directly opposite the Uxmal entrance. Hotel is surrounded by forest and very calm and peaceful. The staff is friendly and the room was clean.
The hotel was way overpriced. It cost four times what a similar hotel in other location would cost and the quality just doesn't keep up. It is very old, amenities like gym are mostly broken, WiFi hardly works. They take advantage of the fact that there is almost no other hotel nearby, so they can charge anything for tourists wanting to stay close to Uxmal. That also applies for the restaurant, where food costs double than what you would pay in Merida or the other restaurants down the road. Don't let yourself be fooled by the professional pictures. Still, it wasn't all bad. It was just way too expensive.

Verified reviewBeautiful surroundings and pools where relaxation is a pleasure. The room is also very nice and comfortable. Right across from the entrance to Uxmal.
The dinner was not tasty at all and the restaurant was relatively overpriced. At 6 am, they were sweeping leaves in the Garden right outside our room window, so we couldn't sleep.

Verified reviewThe hotel is directly at the Maya side, so you can park there and walk to the side. The pools and the whole area is really nice, just like the people working there and the bar.
The WiFi was off for some time but it wasn’t big of a problem.

Verified reviewWe spent 3 nights at this hotel. The location was perfect for visiting Uxmal early in the morning before it got too hot and before the tours arrived. It is also perfectly located to make visits to the many cenotes. The pool was gorgeous. Bird watching on the property was probably my favorite.
I wish there would have been more choices at the restaurant. They also advertised bicycles however they were all in need of repairs when we were there.

Verified reviewLocation was fantastic. Just a short walk from the gate to the Mayan ruins at Uxmal. The food and grounds (2 pools and onsite restaurant) were also great.

Verified reviewFantastic location next to the Mayan ruins! Spacious room. Beautiful grounds.
The only thing that kept our stay from being perfect was a very average restaurant.

Verified reviewBetter option along Ruta Puuc. Spacious room. Decent shower. Large pool. Comfortable bed and good fan. Tastefully decorated.
Has limited charge points one one side of bed and in bathroom. Restaurant is very poor quality but no other option except driving to Pickled Onion (ok..) about 20 min away. Hacienda hotel had no meals but other hotel may be option. Staff are not very hospitable (worst in ten days). Room is dated.

Verified reviewWonderful, friendly staff and a great place for kids with the the pools, walking distance to the Uxmal ruins, the amazing jungle setting/landscaping, etc. We really enjoyed the Land Rover tour of the Hacienda.
The rooms and the food at the on-site restaurant were a bit overpriced and the food/drinks are forgettable in general.

Verified reviewExcellent staff, location and pool. It was perfect to arrive late afternoon and be greeted with the wonderful staff and a welcome drink. We went at 8 am the next morning to the ruins with a fabulous guide, Jorge, who the hotel recommended. We had a tour almost by ourselves, had a great garden breakfast afterwards before all the tourist buses arrived. Highly recommend to stay her before a visit to the Uxmal ruins.
The shower didn't work.
