Very good location, on the lagoon

the 2 people mattress in our bedroom was wet from a storm and they changed it to a single mattress so we could not rest in the room for a few hours when we checked in. the room had some flies. had a disappointing interaction with a staff member who was quite rude while we tried to negotiate a compensation for the wet mattress

Perfect location, we loved the dock on the lake. Amazing place to chill for the afternoon. The rooms are clean.

If you’re not there for a party there is very loud music outside.

- Location is great - Nice to be able to jump straight into the water from the deck - Reception staff was very nice, helpful and professional during my check-in and check-out

- Super cold room, air conditioning was blasting all night and I had to put on pants and cover myself with a beach towel, even though it was super hot outside - The curtains don't cover all sides of the bed so there is little privacy and also the light from another guest was right in my direction when I tried to sleep - There was a thunderstorm during the night, woke up with water entering the room from the balcony door, right where my bed was, even made my bag a little wet - In the morning after the storm there was no electricity, no water, no WiFi and no mobile service at all, for hours. I could not even pay for breakfast with my card because nothing worked - Toilets were all clogged and dirty since there was no water to flush... I think it's unacceptable that a hostel this size doesn't have a power generator or at least some water stored in case of emergency - Needed to get some water to take my medicine, there was not a single glass in the kitchen, I only found one old dirty cup and couldn't even wash it since there was no water in the tap - Sadly I ended up not extending my stay and leaving Bacalar because the lack of structure just didn't make me feel safe. I didn't want to risk another day or days under the same conditions in case the weather didn't improve

Lovely location! Great that you can rent kayaks from right out the back on the jetty. We paid 350 MX for 1 hour on the water.

Staff were lovely but we felt we couldn’t get a straight answer about kayaking tours. We were told at check in that there was a boat trip on the morning but then oh it’s actually a kayaking tour and we should book soon or there will be no places. When we tried to book it wasn’t running at all and the boat tour was back on? So we were a little confused. We wanted to get out early on the kayaks as we had limited time in Bacalar. We were informed that we could rent kayaks from 9am but when we went out at 8.30 ish the kayak rental was open - not sure if just open or if it opened earlier ..

We stayed 2 nights in the Yak Lake House and we really enjoyed it ! We slept in the dorm and we had enough space. The bathroom is big and everything is clean. We arrived on Wednesday and it was the party night. We participate and we had fun ! What's more we had a free welcome drink. We also participate in the free guacamole workshop which was really nice ! The free access to the lagoon is clearly a big plus ! We could see the sunrise from the bridge of the hostel. All the people there were nice. We really recommend this place.

Honestly the only good thing was the dock. Then outdoor area was so mid. The rooms were so so poor, not comfy at all one of the pillows in our four man room was so terrible. The young guy working was so rude to my friends and I, he wouldn’t turn on the ac in the room when I was dying from food poisoning but eventually thank god the manager did for us, then he also wouldn’t change one of the pillows in our room, it was like a pillow full of rocks, I’ve used some pretty horrible pillows but this one felt like a bag of balls made of rocks. He was so rude as well about it. Pictures are deceiving, to be fair the outdoor bit is nice but rooms are terrible if you care about that. Ac is only turned on from like 8pm to 11am

The pillows, that one young guy working there, he was fairly rude. The rooms are not great but the outdoor bit is actually nice so if you are not in your bed at all until you sleep, you’ll be ok, but there is not too much to do in the area.

Lagoon front and incredible facilities. Such a fun hostel to stay at, loads of activities going on and an in house tour agency to explore the area. Restaurant and bar are great too. We had a fantastic time. All you need and incredible vibes. Ali was so kind and helpful!

The location and all services are great for all guess and visitors.

The wall of the bathrooms could be improved for the 8 beds dorms.

I loved this stay. Clean, friendly, full of activities of all kinds. Easy access to rentals, swimming and nearby restaurants. Helpful staff and overall amazing experience.

It was a nice and warm welcome with Ali, she is really nice and coule answer all my questions. Best view on the lake from the private room, great things to do at the hostel. Nice vibe.

The hostel is next to the Lagoon, which is incredible.

The A.C. didn’t work some nights. The beds could have more privacy (extra curtains), and a place to charge your phone and leave some of your stuff (floating shelves). The kitchen could have more mugs and eating cutlery.

Outdoor Shadow in the common areas is a key for better experience.

Friendly and helpful staff, very clean, directly at the lagoon. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast I had at the bar was really good!

The location is great for the lake, you can swim straight off the pier. Staff were great, super friendly and helpful, especially Ali who arranged taxis for us. Actually stayed twice during my Mexico trip. Definitely recommend.
