The large room and refrigerator in the room were great and the room was clean. The staff are extremely nice. The place has 4-star potential but based on our experience it is overrated.

They seem understaffed. When we arrived the reception office was closed and there were no instructions for check-in. I sent messages via WhatsApp but no answer. Finally someone passing by went to and got someone who was working at the bar on the beach. He said he didn't think there was a room for us, but he eventually found one. We entered the room and the lights didn't work, there was no remote control for the AC, and there was no room key. He said he would come back but he never did. The next day they got the lights working for us. On day three they gave us a control for the AC (fortunately it was on, we just couldn't adjust it without the control). We stayed 4 nights and had to leave the door unlocked, even when we were inside because they never found a key. They assured us no one would steal anything. They have WiFi but the Internet sometimes isn't working and sometimes there is no water in the bathroom (not for more than an hour or two). They said those are Island problems that they cannot control. We still enjoyed our stay and would stay again now knowing what to expect (and for a bargain price).

Beautiful and tranquil setting. The room was spacious and clean. The location was close to a lot of things without being in the middle of everything (which is what we usually look for). The front porch was an added bonus. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

One small drawback was the lack of shade (umbrellas, palapas, etc) on their beach. There were plenty of lounge chairs in the sun and hammocks in the shade, but personally, I'm not a huge fan of hammocks. This, however, would not deter me from recommending Villas el Encanto.

My favorite thing about this property was the location- easy walk into town but far away from the pounding bass of the clubs. The staff was friendly and great as well.

The beds were exceedingly uncomfortable. I barely slept with tossing and turning because the mattress was so thin and hard. The room was small and very bare bones. I feel like I was misled by the high ratings on this site.

The room we had was huge, it was basically an apartment. You're basically on the beach and the sunbed & hammock area they have for guests is lovely.

It's soooo noisy since between the apartment and the beach there is the only road used almost non stop by their taxis or motorised vehicles. We're light sleepers so that's a huge minus. Same for the beach area - forget about hearing waves and relaxing. Horrendous. In addition there was in some days a strong smell of seaweed and couldn't basically stay on the beach. Fortunately we discovered Punta cocos beach and we had an amazing day there.

Room was a bit basic, no place for clothes.

Lovely, clean accommodation 10 minutes walk from the main town. Had its own beach chairs and hammocks which we loved. Perfect place to be!

Location is nice, next to the beach. The place has potential if better maintained. The rooms look fine.

Service was below expectations, reception was closed when we arrived and there was closed most of the day. The maintenance of the area was insufficient, the beach area and hotel area wasnt cleaned / well maintened. Next time i would stay at a different place even though the location was nice.

Great spot to stay on Holbox. Away from the “city” and clubs noise (both at the hotel and on the beach), but yet easily accessible. Staff is super friendly. Rooms are clean and well maintained.

If you’re looking for a place with a beach access that includes chairs, hammocks and shade it’s a great value for Holbox, considering how prices have sky rocketed in the past few years.

The property is very close to the beach. It is hard to find until you look up and see the overhead sign. Beach has some loungers, hammocks and some shade. Nice sandy beach. We stayed in one of the newer Cabañas

    Location very good

Family of Raccoons living on roof of bungalow, gave a bad smell to bungalow especially in bedroom. The Raccoons came out at dusk and went back to roof at dawn leaving excrements on the floor of the front door.

The staff were pleasant on arrival

It was falsely described as being beachfront, it isn't and you need binoculars to see the sea. There are buildings in front of the property and it's a good distance from the sea. The room was really dark with dim lighting yet there were only roller blinds at the windows which you couldn't open when getting dressed/undressed as you'd be very exposed. It needs slatted blinds to let in some light. The bathroom has no storage space/surfaces to put toiletries and the old wardrobe in the room had a fridge in it so you couldn't hang clothes. The door wouldn't close on the wardrobe so it had a piece of string added. The bed wasn't comfy and didn't meet the headboard on the wall, so pillows fell onto the floor. This place is so expensive for what is just a shabby room.

Barbara on reception was very kind and helpful on my arrival and welcomed me, apologising for the lack of power due to the storm, however after seeing the room I decided to move on to another hotel and not stay.

Villas el Encanto is set back a little from the beach, however it is a good 10 minute walk from the centre. Not ideal for those solo travelling at night (and taxis are expensive on the island). Unfortunately I arrived at Villas el Encanto when there had been a power cut due to storms on the island. No power = no lights or connection to other friends or family. Most of the time this would've been an ideal situation to be totally disconnected, however not as a solo female traveller that had been travelling all day and was longing for nothing more than a shower and night's sleep somewhere that I felt comfortable and safe. For me, Villas el Encanto definitely did not offer this. The Villas are wooden hot boxes and look dated and in need of a good dust and clean. Towels and soft furnishings look grubby and on arrival there was no light in the bathroom.
