Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe staircase is a bit cumbersome to manage but then again, we are in our 50's and 60.
We enjoyed the ambiance and the pool. Nice easy walk to the beach and our host, Gustavo communicated exceptionally well. The breakfast breakfast was delightful. We enjoyed talking with Gustavo and other guests at breakfast.

United KingdomPool needed to be better cleaned, there was a person cleaning it but he didn't really clean it. The breakfast was good, but the place you have to go to is very popular and it was frustrating to have to wait 20-30 minutes for a table on several days. I understand it is high season but if breakfast is included, make sure people can actually get breakfast.
We really liked the comfy beds and the shower was great. The pool was lovely and the place was really quiet the majority of the time. The kitchen was simple but it was enough to make a hot drink or store cold beers. Good location near to the beach but on a quiet street near a few shops

United StatesThere was potable water jug in our cousin’s room (Coco), but not in ours. We didn’t notice until we tried to make coffee the following morning, and then we just decided to wait for breakfast.
We stayed in Cacao and it was a beautiful “glamping” experience. The units are rustic, yet everything functions well (A/C, fan, hot water, etc) Gustavo texted to make sure we were ok, that we had no problems and to recommend restaurants. BTW, Aroma was one of his recommendations and it was fabulous! We enjoyed the area around the pool. Since we were only there one night, we didn’t take advantage of the cooking facilities, but again….the unit was VERY clean; we saw no bugs in the kitchen area! Nice touch that coffee and coffeemaker available!

United KingdomThere’s nothing we didn’t like! El Cuyo is a small laid back town so it’s worth knowing that it’s quiet in the evenings (which we liked) and it’s also worth bringing an eye mask if you want to lie in, but we enjoyed waking up early to the sound of birds.
Breakfast was great, staff were all lovely, communication was easy and the cabins are beautiful! There’s Netflix, bottled water and coffee provided, the pool area is really tranquil and you’re super close to the beach.

My partner and I stayed here for several days and it was perfect. Very close walk to the beach and restaurants but still felt secluded and peaceful. The cabin was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Some people in our group got massages and loved them. Host was extremely responsive and helpful throughout the trip. We would definitely stay here again!

New ZealandNothing, there were some power cuts (this is common in El cuyo) but it wasn't really an issue and the hosts made sure we were ok whilst the power was off, there is a generator to keep the essentials going etc
The pool area was very relaxing, cabins are spacious, clean and have everything you need, they are 5 min walk from the beach, shops and restaurants. Check in was easy and communication with the hosts/staff was very fast and helpful. We also booked a yoga class on one of the mornings which was very relaxing in the perfect setting under the coconut trees 😶🌫️

LithuaniaThe shower head in the bathroom needs to be replaced, but it wasn't really a problem ;) Everything was super cool there. No more what to say.
The courtyard is amazing - a pool, sunbeds, palm trees, a basket full of coconuts... The owners of the hotel communicated perfectly, answered all questions and were very kind and caring. it was very sad to leave.

Incredible place and lovely staff. Gustavo gave us lots of tips for our travels in Mexico and also an upgrade for our honeymoon which made it an incredibly memorable stay. There is water in the rooms to refill your bottle and coffee as well as a fully equipped kitchen! Breakfast is lovely in the cafe around the corner as well. We had an amazing start to our holidays in Mexico.

SwitzerlandWe would clearly stay here again and recommend this place. The only thing we'd improve is having a kettle in the room. it took quite a long while to boil water on the little stove. (my husband had a sore throat so we made a loot of tea. not what one usually does in a hot country) also we found the breakfast in the little cafe a few streets away nice but if you really want to eat ahead of a day of adventures, you probably end up paying extra as the combo included is not a lot. Didn't bother us as but I find it relevant mentioning.
We had a great stay at Xtambaa! i am a huge fan of the bed, incl. blankets and pillows! The little houses are spacious and very well equipped. we stayed only one night, so couldn't use it that much but we were quite surprised. The price-quality ratio is definitely the best we've seen on our trip so far (and we stayed in 5 different hotels already). We also really liked the shower (just make sure you put the lid over the sink when you are done showering otherwise it will start smelling bad). Further, the AC worked very well. we turned it on for 20min only and the house was nice and cool until the next morning. no need to have it running all the time. last but not least, communication via booking chat was perfect. we got all the info we needed and Gustavo - the owner - was very responsive. it would be a bit more difficult if you don't have mobile internet. So if you are reading this here it is probably the moment for you to make the booking at Xtambaa!

United KingdomThe swimming pool wasn’t chlorinated (I believe) and so it was a bit dirty and full of mosquitoes in the afternoon. We didn’t have any issues and it was lovely. I would probably recommend to improve on the communication. We didn’t have internet during our travelling and I didn’t read Gustavo’s messages about the self check-in. We were lucky that someone was there when we arrived. I would probably suggest to notify about it at the moment of the reservation, as well as giving a bit more information about how the breakfast works (we found out only last day that we could get something else by paying the difference). That said, we really loved El Cuyo and Gustavo’s bungalows. I would definitely come back every weekend if I could! Thank you for everything and, please, keep El Cuyo as it is!
This was definitely our favourite staying of all our holidays. Gustavo has a beautiful place, very comfortable and decorated in every detail. Gusvato was a great host, he gave us a bungalow upgrade and made our staying in El Cuyo very special. You can have yoga in the morning in the garden and there is a spa where you can have a gorgeous massage under the flowers. There is also a small corner gym. There is a small kitchen with the necessary to cook, even though we haven’t used it, and free water. The place is 2 minutes walk from the beach. The breakfast is in a caffè also run by Gustavo, close by. Staff speaks in English and was very helpful.

NetherlandsThe water pressure in the shower is not too great, but we learned that is quite common in El Cuyo.
We had a delightful stay at Xtambaa in the Canela cabin. The charming cabin exuded a comforting cinnamon scent. The bed was the highlight of our Mexico trip, it was super comfortable. The location added to the overall appeal; close to the beach, restaurants and shops. Breakfast is included and served at Cafe Anahata, which is also hosted by Gustavo and his wife. Highly recommend Xtambaa for a memorable stay.

SlovakiaThat is it more than 14 hours flight from where we live to El Cuyo, otherwise we would be there every weekend 😉
Cabins are stunning! Located in paradise - small village El Cuyo. You will feel like in the jungle, while living in absolut comfort. We had Cabin Coco and everything was perfect. Cabin was clean, bed comfortable, bathroom enough big and kitchen had basic stuff for preparing the meal if necessary. Owner payed attention to all details and outside and inside you can find very nice decorations. Resort of cabins is fenced, you can enter only with key. There are few parking spaces in front the wooden gate. Sea is few steps away, pool is fantastic. We didnt try the spa or gym. There are lot of mosquitos, take repelent:)
