Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandActually nothing
I stayed for 2 nights as a solo traveler and really enjoyed the unique charm of 5 Heeren Museum Residence. As the name suggests, the place feels like a living museum — full of antiques and old-world character. Don't expect modern minimalism, but all the essentials are there: air conditioning, warm water, and a comfortable bed. A truly special stay if you appreciate heritage and atmosphere!

United Arab EmiratesThis boutique hotel is perfectly located, right in the centre of Malacca. As others have said, it’s like staying overnight in a museum. The attention to detail is incredible. Breakfast was like an introduction to the very best Malaysian breakfast food available, super interesting and tasty. Loved staying here and would definitely return!

SingaporeNot much really. There wasn't much to complain about. But it is not a 5-star hotel with all the amenities e.g. swimming pool, gym, sauna, bar, restaurants etc. It's intended for those who want a really nice room in a historic setting.
If you'd like to stay inside of a piece of history - with antiques around you and a vibe that brings you back over a few hundred years...well then this is place for you. The photos don't do justice - the place is quite a bit nicer in reality. This is a small boutique hotel so service is personable and it feels almost like you're staying at someone's house. The breakfast is super - it gives you a very good introduction to nyonya/baba (Peranakan) breakfasts...and honestly I'd find it hard to find similar on the streets of Malacca (probably cause I don't know where). The staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is fantastic if you want to be in the heart of Malacca town and near the various historic sights/museums.

GermanySince this is an historic house with original interior, there are two things one should keep in mind: - The stairs are kind of narrow and might pose a problem for those who are not very mobile. - The beds are on the short side, and taller people might want to double-check beforehand.
This is a very special place, an historic mansion. The house is beautiful, and the location perfect: right around the corner of Jonker Street. The staff was wonderful, and the Malaysian breakfast delicious.

Truly exceptional- a wonderful historic hotel in the heart of the city. All the decor was ‘just right’- it had a wonderful atmosphere and felt like a home rather than a museum. All the facilities were to a high standard. All the staff very lovely especially the owner who kindly explained all the different foods served at breakfast.

Lovely stay at 5 Heeren Museum Residence, a fabulous & lovely Peranakan boutique hotel with great collection of antiques & artifacts, compliments with lovely plants & flowers. The staff are very helpful & polite. The owner takes a lot of pride in the hotel & her collection, taking time to explain on the history. The hotel is so kind & generous to offer breakfast for us (although it is not in the package), allowing us to have a taste their home cooked nasi lemak, laksa, prawn noodles, chicken rice balls, fried bee hoon, prata, butter&kaya toast, the assortment of Nyonya kuehs.

The breakfasts served at the hotel are wonderful and tasty spreads of the paranakan cuisine that helped us understand the culture, tradition and history of the unique melting pot that Melaka is. The staff are very kind and welcoming and they made sure our stay went marvelously well.

Malaysia1. I think the room is a bit congested, I suggest relooking into this 2. Only display those are needed and maybe an empty small table is needed for guests to put their small belonging like wallets, watch, spectacle and etc
Breakfast is fantastic and the host is great at getting personnel in touch The staff is good and excellent Overall, the Environment is great and clean especially when we need to take off our shoes and go upstairs, this is something new and good, maybe add a shoe rack on the ground floor so we can put shoes more organized
