Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaAh.. this one. Well it depends on individual. It is not suitable for elderly or people who have knee problem. Might have difficulty to go for the 3rd floor stairs. Plus if you are a solo traveller with hang carry luggage.
Near to town and very convenient to find food.

AustraliaThe room didn’t really look like the pictures. I booked the queen room because of the beautiful windows shown in the pictures. Unfortunately the window I had was frosted and covered in bars- looked more like a jail cell. My room also had a small balcony but they were storing some plastic materials there so I could barely step outside. No cleaning or replenished supplies during my 5 night stay.
Overall this place is good value for money and in a decent location. Bed was really comfy.

MalaysiaAlthough I stayed on the highest floor, I could still clearly hear noise from outside. It’s understandable since the hotel is located in the city center, but some better soundproofing would help improve the stay. Also, it would be more convenient if each floor had a water dispenser and a fridge, instead of having just one set on the ground floor—especially since the hotel has three floors. Lastly, it would be great if the hotel could proactively contact guests with the entrance door password ahead of time, rather than guests needing to search for a contact number to request it. This small change could make the self check-in experience feel more smooth and welcoming.
I stayed at 85 Boutique Hotel as a solo traveler and had a really pleasant experience. The location is excellent—I explored most of Ipoh city just by walking. From the hotel, it was super easy to reach shopping malls, local food streets, popular attractions, and convenience stores, all within walking distance. The hotel uses a self check-in system, which was smooth and convenient. I actually didn’t meet any staff from check-in to check-out, and everything was well-arranged digitally. The room was clean and tidy, and for the price, I was really impressed. They provided shampoo, body wash, a toothbrush, shower cap, and even two bottles of branded mineral water for free. P/s: The hotel is quite beautiful too the interior decoration!! It looks like an old building that had been furnishing! If you’re a solo traveler or just looking for a clean, convenient, and affordable stay in Ipoh, I’d definitely recommend this place!

MalaysiaWell, the mosaic tiling took a little bit to warm up to. And the height of the steps on the staircase was not all equal, if I really want to nitpick. But having said that I'd book it again.
The caretaker Mr Tan decided to forward all the necessary information I needed to check in. And he also gave a heads up about checking out. The location was just great for my purposes this time around - I didn't have a car with me so it's cool.

MalaysiaIt wouldve been nice if they provided more rubbish bins and plastic bags for us to dispose our trash, but it wasn't really an issue
Reading the comments I was worried how our room would look but it is surprisingly quite clean and comfortable. A spacious room for two. Beds are comfy and the heating works nice for the water. Easy self check-in and checkout. Bear in mind, some areas of the room/building may be under refurbishment, but they don't look dirty nor give off any icks. The hotel is located just a few blocks away from "Gerbang Malam", a very strategical place for us to walk at night and have dinner. Since it is not in the middle of the busy street, we had no problem with traffic noises of any sorts.

SloveniaThe only thing bothering us was the bathroom. It wasn’t really clean, needs some love and renovation.
Appreciated the privacy we had. Own bathroom and easy check-in and check-out. The bed was comfortable, the hotel overall nicely decorated. We also had a possibility to leave our bags in a room before check-in and after check-out.

United KingdomWhilst in an alley off the main road, traffic noise does penetrate the slated windows. These windows are also opaque, which kind of goes against the quiet street view description.
A simple yet comfortable stay. The room was very basic but had everything needed. The self-check-in process was easy to follow, though there was an issue with my designated room not being prepared. However, the owner responded promptly, coming to the hotel to arrange a temporary room until the next day.

Malaysia1) There are still some on-going renovations so the place is a bit dusty (but it'll be better soon). 2) The bathroom in our room need some upkeeping - lock is coming apart and some stains/mold around the WC (exterior - a little brushing is all it needs).
1) Located closed to eateries, shops selling local products and Ipoh wet market. Convenient street parking available. Less than 10mins drive to the more popular Kong Heng Square/Concubine Lane. 2) Double security - 1 at main entrance to hotel (numeric touchpad) and 1 to the room (key-box). 3) Bed & linens are clean and comfortable. Room is clean with sufficient plug points. Pressure from water heater is good and air-con works well.
