I liked that the hotel did not ask me for a deposit, AND did not pester by 11.00 am for me to leave like many other Malaysian hotels do. After all, my Booking.com personal user profile is also visible to hoteliers and they can see that I've never given any problems to the hundreds of hotels I've stayed in all around the world. With this good customer service attitude to me, I will definitely come back to this hotel.

The hot water was lukewarm at best. The noises from the corridor also travelled easily into the room.

This was a last-minute booking and I didn't do much research into the hotel, so it was actually better than expected. We liked that the airconditioning was very powerful and the bed was quite comfortable. The hotel is also an easy walking distance from Old Town Ipoh.

A bit dirty at the toilet, the window got only one and its not functional properly (i guess?)

No parking area to speak of but there is an area near the river which still under cctv of the hotel. ie it is safe to park there however due to the rain we couldn't park there. so we parked a bit further (out of the watchful eyes of the hotel cctv) but it was all good. our car was safe. it was 9 emperor's celebrations - that was night no.5 when we stayed - so it was so loud. at midnight loud firecrackers and hard to sleep. not good if there are chinese festival - noise level is unbelievable. past midnight!

One of the quirky room we stayed. it has split level. The bed is sort of on a "stage". Love the windows. We get the riverside view which is nice. It was raining cats and dog so we just drove every where.

We do not understand why deposit was needed, because in the room already quite a lot was broken. Road was noisy.

Very friendly staff. We were early for checkin, but staff let us store our luggage, and arranged a cab for us to drive to sights in the area. Bed was good. Nice breakfast place, just over the bridge.

Dusty room and flooring had cracks. Room and furniture are dated. Limited parking area which is free on grass patch but payable on designated lots.

The whole place is very run down Our toilet was blocked and didn’t work, when we told the owner they refused to give us a discount so we had to use the communal toilets in the wholeness which were dirty and run down It’s super loud at night as it’s next to a big street smell cigarettes in the room Check in was not ready at the time it was supposed to be

- smelled of smoke despite all the signs and warnings against it (smell was only in the hallway though) - ants in the bathroom which was avoidable but kinda gross - could get quite noisy being beside the main road - side point: it's ok, but it has a lot more potential

- location was handy, just a walk from everywhere you'd like to go - room was spacious and bed was comfy - tea and kettle was provided - toiletries provided - filtered water available (albeit room temperature)

One window damaged so I couldn't open blinds, this is a health hazard and needs sorting. As with a lot of similar hotels with these prices, the decorating needs updating.

Air condition is not cold enough, the tv remote is broken. I asked for another but the staff said none is available.

My only negativity is the roof garden which is sad and neglected. There's nowhere comfortable to sit and there's a lot of rubbish.

The location is great. Easy walking into both the old and new town. The room was simple but comfortable. Great value for the price paid. The view from my room was beautiful over the river and mountains. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had a couple of problems with the air con and the kettle. Both were sorted immediately by the staff. The best though was that the owner offers tours. You can take a car and driver by the hour. This enabled me to visit Tempurung Cave and Kek Lok Si Tong Temple as well as Kellie's Castle. I wouldn't have been able to see them otherwise. The tour was fantastic.

Upon assigning the room to us, the room door and windows were wide open as the cleaners were trying to get rid of the smell of cigarettes. Some food scraps were found on the floor, and some small insects occasionally crawled out from the crevices. The platform flooring was cracked in several places and was being held together by duct tape. The bathroom sink was leaking and a bucket was placed underneath to catch the drippings. In short, the room was falling into significant disrepair.

Very good location. A short walk to the old town west of the river, as well as the great food and edible souvenir shops east of the river. Also the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.
