Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

We had the loft room and it was so lovely to stay in a traditional room. The location was great in the middle of George Town!!

NetherlandsEspecially during the weekend, a lot of bars in the area play loud music that can be heard in the room quite well. So do bring good earplugs. During our stay though the music stopped around midnight, so that is okay. Even better if you just go to the bar and join the party. There is no housekeeping. Though understandable for this price, it would be easier if guests could trade new towels each day. As staff leaves in the afternoon, it is not possible to get new towels then.
Probably the best value for money in Malaysia. We stayed in a room with own bathroom. The building itself is beautiful from the inside and outside. Check in was easy via WhatsApp. Our room had all we needed. Though especially in the late afternoon, early evening the room was very hot due to the flat metal roof. It takes the A/C 20-30 minutes to cool the room down. The absolute best about this place is the location, right in the middle of Georgetown. Only a 5-10 minute walk to all the highlights. As for food, there is no better place than Georgetown and the hotel has a neighbouring Michelin listed Nyonya restaurant that serves great lunch for 1-2 euro’s. Several great breakfast places in the area as well. The place is kept clean all through the day and the kitchen offers a fridge, water and free coffee.

SwitzerlandWe had the double-room with own bathroom, the bed was on the upper floor. The room is not insulated, so the cold from AC does not stay in the room. As the bedroom is directly under the roof and heat is ascending, it was quite hot. Also people talking in the kitchen can be heard perfectly...
The room was spacious, well decorated and in the centre.

United KingdomThe windows have no glazing, only wooden shutters, so noise can be an issue at night. The hotel provides earplugs to help, but light sleepers or those with noisy neighbours may still find it disruptive.
The staff are very friendly and attentive. Communication is mostly via WhatsApp, but they’re available in person during the day. Conveniently located in the old town centre. The shared kitchen has a water dispenser, which is always a bonus. The loft room makes good use of the space, with the desk area and bathroom downstairs and the sleeping area on the mezzanine.

BrazilThe location is great and the room was just like the photos. The staff is very kind and helpful. The room was clean and it had great air conditioning. Amenities were available and we could use their shared kitchen, which was also very helpful. We booked two nights, but since we liked it here, we ended up staying for 8 nights in total. It was a good experience. Thank you! :)

NetherlandsSometimes the toilet paper would run out.
Firstly the owners are very friendly and helpful thru their messages. The room was very spacious and nicely decorated. I liked that there was a self check in and out, which gave us the freedom to enter and leave without any problems. And lastly the location was a perfect walk distance to most restaurants and attractions.

United Kingdom- The bed is on a mezzanine that’s accessed by a narrow ladder, so must be very careful going down in the middle of the night to use the toilet downstairs - The mezzanine sealing is quite low so you need to duck down when getting in/out of bed - As it’s a refurbished building it’s not really soundproofed. - The floor downstairs had a plasticky layer that was “pealing” somehow and kept sticking to our feet
- Well located - Friendly staff - Convenient keyless entry/ doors - Great little sharing kitchenette with free water dispenser

FranceWalls are a bit thin indeed but it's ok. Besides, they provide ear plugs so definitely manageable!
Amazing stay at Pine Muntri! The location is central, the place is very clean and modern with all needed common facilities (small kitchen with a fridge & drinking water available). The staff are very welcoming, available and always responsive for any request you would have! It's definitely good value for money!

South AfricaIf you take the duplex private room just be warned that the AC won’t reach the top well so it will be hot but nothing unbearable.
We had great stay, the property is quite central to everything in George Town. The hosts were friendly and made our check in and out very smooth. We unfortunately stayed at a time where Penang was having water issues and didn’t really feel it because our buckets were always full. The place was clean and very quiet, the wifi was also very fast.

MalaysiaThe bathroom is a bit narrow, the room is not soundproof. People walking outside can be heard. The stairs are very steep to get to the bed.. Almost fell several times while going down the stairs. The rest is very satisfied.
Satisfactory security, strategic location of the accommodation. Close to tourist attractions. Food and transportation resources are easy to obtain. Basic facilities such as kitchen, bath towels and others are provided.

MalaysiaWe didn't get the exact room as advertised in Booking.com so these opinion are based on the room we got Size of private bathroom is very narrow and small in comparison to shared bathroom The upper floor that we got has very low ceiling, which is quite inconvenient even to us both of average Asian height, we still need to bend down quite often to avoid our heads hitting the ceiling Soundproofing is not the best Parking also quite limited as well considering it's location in George town
Decent guesthouse with nice shared facilities (pantry and living room area with couches, tables and chairs) Located in a strategic yet quiet, peaceful part of Georgetown Convenient check in procedure

SingaporeIt’s an old heritage shophouse so you can hear noise easily. That’s tough for a light sleeper like me, but other than that, it’s clean, comfortable, lovely people, great location & a beautiful stay!

SingaporeMaybe the fact there isn't an ever present reception but there was hardly any need for.
The room was really clean and comfortable, as well as the overall facility. There were towels, toothbrushes and even ear plugs provided and the air con was functioning well at a good temperature. The main area is really aesthetic and they provide a water dispenser, microwave and cups and plates. Highly recommend for the price! NO complains at all.

Malaysiathe stairs a bit too narrow, difficult to climb. no bed provided, just a mattress since the ceiling is a bit low, around 150cm++ from the top floor. so for tall people, you might find it difficult to keep bending yourself over. for a 148cm like me, i have no problem. but the mattress a bit too hard on my back. and when we check in, i noticed the staff didnt clean up/throw used toothbrush left by previous customer. otherwise, comforter and towels seems new. no iron provided.
love it the most for the vibe and ambience. somewhat modern classic. perfect for backpackers. the location is not that hard to find. easy self check in, the staff will text you how to find the building, the password for both main entrance and your room. we picked room with private bathroom, so our room is kinda like 2 floor. when you enter, the ground floor was for a desk and bathroom. for bed, you need to climb the stairs. basic amenities provided, toiletries. hairdryer. shared pantry with complete facilities. anyway, really love the vibe.

CanadaThe first room I got, with a private bathroom, was a split-level, and unfortunately, the upper level has an extremely low ceiling, and I literally had to move around bent halfway over. Thankfully, that was only the sleeping area. The staircase was super narrow—a hazard to the shins going up and a falling risk going down. Both rooms I got had window openings at the top that let in light from the hallways, so my room was never quite dark. This seems like a relatively easy thing to remedy with either curtains or a tinted film. The walls are super thin, so if you happen to get noisy neighbours, you'd better wear your earplugs. The bathroom area is extremely smelly, and something should be done about that.
The owner, Jimmy, is very easy to communicate with. He's helpful and accommodating, which made my stay quite pleasant. I mentioned that I would like a desk in my room, and he made sure to put me in one that met my needs.
