Perfect and affordable!!

The location is unbelievable. Everything is within walking distance. Lots of great food places nearby. The smart locks mean you don’t have to carry keys around, which is just convenient. The shared facilities are clean, the bed was comfortable. There is some snacks available to everybody in the shared kitchen (bread from a bakery). They provided us with some small toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste). The shared space is very spacious, so even though there might be people around, it never feels cramped. There was almost always somebody there is you wanted to ask questions. Central location but it is also close to a mosque - you can hear call to prayer at all times. Wasn’t a problem for us, but something to be aware of.

That said, being next to a mosque means you’ll definitely hear the early morning prayers, especially around sunrise. The hotel provides earplugs, but they don’t block out the sound completely, so I’d recommend bringing your own noise-cancelling earplugs or headphones if you’re a light sleeper.

Terraces by Aayu is a great budget-friendly stay right in the heart of George Town. The rooms are private, simple but comfortable, and great if you’re after an affordable base to explore the city. Bathrooms are shared, but kept clean. The location is excellent. It's walking distance to Love Lane, street art, and many of the must-see spots. Staff are genuinely friendly and helpful, which makes the stay much more welcoming. If you’re after an affordable and centrally located place to sleep while exploring George Town, this is a great choice.

Everything is so perfect. From the process of checkin till checkout, there is so much advancement. I stayed in this kind of setup for the very first time. Its extremely relaxing, comfortable and most importantly very economical, i’ll happily give it 10/10..

Amazing location in the centre of town, minutes away from cafes & bars. Great communal areas with multiple kitchenettes. Nice touch was the free bakery bread & coffee/tea daily. Keyless rooms & self check-in were really helpful! Staff were super helpful & we extended an extra night easily

We really liked our stay here, so much that we actually extended. The room was clean, cozy and comfortable with a easy to handle keypad lock at the door, so you dont need to carry around a key. Showers and toilets were clean and they provided soap, toiletpaper and towels. The common area was quite big and always clean. You could get free water and use a microwave and a breadtoaster. Also the staff was always there and reachable.

This hostel is absolutely superb, the staff are friendly, helpful, full of local knowledge and go the extra mile. The facilities are cleaned daily, rooms are spacious, air conditioned, baggage room for luggages and freeWiFi too. Its location is in the heart of Georgetown and it's an easy walk to get anywhere and a real bonus is the bread they have in the kitchen area for all the guests, it's just delicious when you try them with a cup of coffee 😍.

I think more than one iron could be available (as people tend to take and keep them to their rooms), the isolation isn’t very good making it difficult to sleep if loud.

Staff were very helpful from the moment I checked in, they sent out local recommendations which is useful. They also helped with transportation tips. Well located , good atmosphere and good space.

Absolutely loved my stay at The Terraces by Aayu! The rooms were clean, stylish, and comfortable — but what really stood out was the incredible staff. They were genuinely helpful and went out of their way to make sure everything ran smoothly from check-in to check-out. One of the best parts was the fantastic list of local restaurant recommendations and itinerary ideas they shared, which helped us experience Georgetown like a local. They even provided a custom Google Maps walking route that made exploring the city super easy and enjoyable. If you’re heading to Penang and want a welcoming, thoughtful place to stay, this is it. Highly recommend!
