Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe location - an old, run down part of town. Even so it felt safe. The aircon vents are in the ceiling of the passage between the bedrooms, so the rooms only benefit indirectly. The partition walls of the rooms do not reach the ceiling by 30 cm. This could be a problem if the neighbours are not considerate. During my stay this was not a problem, quiet time was.........quiet. The shower heaters are so weak that you have to restrict the flow severely to get a warm shower.
The location - convenient for transport. The helpful front desk manager. The price - very cheap and good value.

Czech RepublicThe "single room" on the 1st floor is actually a cubicle in greater shared space, there are gaps between walls and the ceiling and you can hear the other guests talking or snoring. Some guests are not respectful and are talking even after 10pm. Earplugs strongly recommended. A warning on the fridge says that the kitchen is being watched by a CCTV, to discourage guests from stealing food. But I haven't noticed any camera and my bottle of tea has disappeared. To the staff: either remove the warning or at least get a fake camera. The place is close to the station but a bit far from city center (eg. Concubine Lane), requires ca. 10-15 mins walking to get there. Also limited dining options in the neighborhood, only a few Indian restaurants.
Sufficient for the price, considering it is one of the cheapest hotels in Ipoh. Close to bus terminal and railway station. The neighborhood is very quiet, there are only some car repair shops around, no noise in the night.

AustraliaLocation is close to the town bus station but far from anything else, but I think that is a reflection of the town layout and not of the hostel itself. Ipoh is just a wide spread town. No soap anywhere.
Very comfortable and quiet. Very clean, towels provided and a comfy blanket.

MalaysiaI encountered several issues while staying and I have some suggestions for improvement: 1. I stayed on Level 2, there was no body wash/shampoo/any soap provided in the bathrooms for guest, luckily I brought my own body was and shampoo. Appreciate if the Management can provide body wash & shampoo (in bottles or refillable dispenses) for everyone's use in each bathroom cubicle. 2. I stayed at Room No 2-3, the first 2 nights were a bit unpleasant as the aircond was not working at all, I was unsure if it was not working properly or switched off, hence there was no wind movement in my room and ventilation was so poor. I reported to the reception and was able to switch room to Room No 2-6 which was nearer to another working aircond. I would suggest to use standard ceiling fans or any fans to manage ventilation if the aircond is out of order. 3. Smelly shoe racks on Level 1 and 2 - suggest to use air fresheners in those areas. 4. The was no proper desk and chair for guests to use laptop and do work on. There were photos of facilities ie desks and chairs advertised on booking.com but in actual, the facilities were not there.
The accommodation is value for money, I paid RM27 only for 1 night. The location is good, not so much concern on me because I drove my own car. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful to assist me to settle my enquiries and issues.

United KingdomThe walls separating each "room" don't go up to the ceiling and so you can hear every noise your neighbour makes. The guy in the room next to mine was a little peculiar. I got the impression that many of the guests were staying long term.
Good location, next to the train station and local bus terminal. Efficiently managed and maintained.

MalaysiaAir conditioner very cold. My feet was freezing. Perhaps was due to only 2 ppl occupying the entire 3rd floor.
Yhis is my first time here. The staff are friendly; check-in and check-out was easy. People who stay here are very simple, compassionate and comply with the rules. I got locked out accidentally at about 11.40pm. Reception was closed and I couldn’t get spare key to get into my room. A guest from Switzerland showed me the lounge on the first floor and gave me his blanket to use. Good vibes. If I travel alone, I’ll stay here again.

Czech RepublicWhen you walk in the place smells, and its a bit old. Walls are very thin so you can her other people talking or snoring. Do NOT put you food in the fridge, someone will probably steal it.
The best thing about this place is the price honestly. Otherwise the room is ok, sometimes very hot or cold depends on the A/C. Nearby the hostel there is nothing really, so you will have to walk. Very close to the train station.

SlovakiaThe rooms are open (the walls are going all the way to the ceiling) so you hear ALL the sounds around and light from the next rooms is going to your room. So it's more like a dormitory, but here are more doors to slam with.
Nice stuff, clean rooms, the price..

FranceWalking to the center of the city is not very practical, you have to cross big roads without too much pedestrian crossing available. Didn't sleep too well because of noise from birds or something during night. Bed ok but not the most comfortable.
Bit more privacy then normal hostel for same price but the room walls don't go to the top so you hear others easily. 5 showers/toilets per floor so enough for everyone. Microwave and fridge available + hot and cold water dispenser.

MalaysiaYou can hear someone next door cough or sneeze or snore and even when they are on the phone. Besides the light from next door can affect the brightness in your area. The water pressure is kind of low tho when you take a shower.
You have personal space to do things on your own. It got WiFi but sometimes it disconnected on its own. This place is kind of secluded but was okay, near the Little India area. Remember to bring RM30 as a deposit.

FinlandThe area is a bit questionable. I wouldn't walk outside alone at night time. At the day time no problem! The rooms had a gap between walls and ceiling so that air could flow. However, this resulted in all the sounds coming from other rooms and the room was not dark at night.
Stuff was really friendly and helpfull. Property has everything needed (hairdryer, microwave etc.). Room was clean and nice and there was locker. Hotel other quest was all males but I did not feel uncomfortable or faced any issues here.
