How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

No ability to pay by card. The restaurant didn't have change for my purchase so I left it as a tip. The door handle and bathroom door handle was broken. A sewage smell came from the toilet but I couldn't close the bathroom door. The internet wasn't working. The water cut out for a few hours. The staff were apologetic and tried to fix things.

Verified reviewNo breakfast is available at this hotel! Constantly being woken up by people banging on the doors having been locked out. I would not recommend this hotel if you intend getting any sleep. No drinking water available in the rooms, no milk for the coffee, no teaspoons to even stir the coffee that was available.

My son and I couldn't sleep because of mosquitos all night 😔 it was horrible and super early in the morning there was a lot of noise 😕 outside my room. Over all the people were nice 👍.

Verified reviewI loved that the staff spoke English, making it easy for us to communicate and navigate our stay. They were also incredibly welcoming and always willing to lend a helping hand, which truly made our visit to Maputo lovely.
The bathroom can get a bit stuffy because there are no windows, and it would be great if they could install ventilators to improve airflow.

Verified reviewThe staff is so friendly and helpful, the most friendly of them all was Fahimah she went out of her way to make sure I m comfortable, she's very warm and kind hearted, she made me feel at home and will definitely book my stay here the next time I come.
I don't wanna lie this place good value for money and it's close to the beach, I got to take a walk to the beach after completing the business I came to this country for.

We were ment to check in at 11 on Thursday, arrived at 5pm due to business meetings and the rooms weren't even ready at all. Then booked another 2 nights, were told we would need to move rooms and 1 of the rooms was worse than the first nights room although having paid a higher price. Bags were moved to new rooms and staff didn't even know which room they were moved to. Shocking experience and definately wont be staying again.

Verified reviewREVIEW FOR: Angel Boutique Hotel (Maputo) ROOM: Approx 20 SqM (210 SqFt)...1st Floor PICTURES: They have combined pictures for their two different locations. This location does not have a pool. Some rooms can have sea view INTERNET SPEED: 6.6 Mbps WORKING SPACE: Nice desk with good chair LOCATION: Across from the Sun City Resort VIEW FROM MY ROOM: Parking/Laundry SAFETY: Very safe PARKING: Inside of security fence. There are only two parking spots and the cars are parked back to back. You will need someone to move their car if you got there first. BONUS: I think they actually washed our car while it was parked. NOISE: This specific room was next to a couple of worker areas and the windows didn't shut properly so you could hear some talking. Not a big deal for us LENGTH OF STAY: 1 night STAFF: Very responsive and accommodating. ADDITIONAL: They spray for mosquitoes nightly, but those things still got in and had a feast on me.

Verified reviewThe room was nice and had good space. The staff was helpful and friendly, and made my stay extremely satisfying. I would like to return one day.
The room was above the reception and all the sounds downstairs echoed to the room, loudly. Earplugs fixed that though. I expect sounds from the room also echoed to the hallway. The breakfast system does not work. The "breakfast included" in their case means you have a budget for breakfast in the separate restaurant downstairs. I was able to fit a toast with fries and a coffee in it. Water or juice costs extra... They are also closed every now and then and definitely do not open at 7, as is stated in the description, more like 9. I was able to work remote most mornings, luckily. I recommend buying the breakfast those mornings that it's convenient.
