How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Rooms were really dirty, common kitchen even worse, 4 days the towels never changed and same dead insects on the floor for the whole period. Staff wasn't welcoming as from some comments I read, they didn't explain any of the activities and not even our rights (the gym, the free massage we should have had etc). More than once they were quite rude with us. Restaurant has crazy prices, almost double than other hotel restaurants around.

Verified reviewWhat an experience! Where to start? We were looking for affordable accommodation for a week away and stumbled across Mango Beach resort online. We love Tofo and decided to take a chance. We arrived quite late but the manager Sam checked on us regularly throughout the drive. We were welcomed and felt at home straight away. Telo, our bartender had 2M ready and our holiday could begin. The rooms are clean and serviced every day. Even though the booking site said there would be no Wifi, there was, with very good service. My kids loved the tidal pools and later in the afternoon when the tide came in they could enjoy the waves. This place is truly a gem. If you are a camper at heart but don't want to take the tent or kitchen utensils this place is for you. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Sam and your team. You can be very proud of the service you offer.

Verified reviewEnjoyed my relaxing stay, the staff are really nice and there are nice hammocks overlooking the ocean. There is also a tidepool on the beach outside the hotel, with calm water, which is nice to lie and relax in. The lodge is located 3 km outside town, so it is more relaxing without people constantly selling coconuts or bracelets ect. The rooms are standard and clean. They also have good clear tap water, in contrast with most places in Tofo.
There is only wifi in the restaurant, and the Vodacom 4G reception is very bad down where the cabins/bungalows are. It was a nice but very long walk on the beach into town, especially during high tide. The road is sandy, and a 4WD is needed to get there. The hotel offers shuttle/taxi to town for 500 MZT.

Verified reviewWe loved our 10 day stay at Mango Beach! Very affordable, the staff are lovely, the facilities are very clean and well kept. The food and view for the restaurant is amazing, and there is a beautiful natural pool on the beach at the hotel. The walk to town takes about 40 mins along the beach, but it is stunning and an easy walk. Staying out of town was great and super peaceful! Thanks Michael and team for a lovely stay.

Verified reviewThis place is amazing and perfect for families and true ocean lovers! It's very comfortable, with a lot of trees. Rooms are basic but they have all that is needed. Restaurant is amazing. Staff is super nice and helpful. There are hammocks and playgrounds everywhere, kids and adults are very happy. The view is amazing from the restaurant on top of the dune and food at the restaurant is very good and fresh as well. It's not luxury and it's not in the city, but it's the perfect place to spend time in the nature, also with kids.

Verified reviewSo quiet and secluded. You have the beaches all to yourself. At lowtide you can go snorkeling. The resort is really beautiful. Staff is accommodating and so hospitable. We got lost coming in on our first evening and Sam the manager video called us and directed us safely back on the correct road, even had the kitchen stay so we could have some dinner before bed. really awesome spot! highly recommend them
it's only accessible by 4x4. We had a small car so we walked back and forth to Tofo ( which is so nice during the day along the beach.) MBR does have a shuttle to Kumba lodge however I do think it's abit expensive (R140 and R240 after 8pm) it's a 5mins drive.
