The coffee station in the room was not great. One of the little milk packs is not enough for one cup of anything. So for afternoon tea on arrival one would use 4 and for early morning tea another 4. Giving a total of 8. One is only given 2. A huge irritation.

The breakfast was the best part of the stay - it was excellent.

the food menu and the prices there are not many options for vegetarians in the menu and when asking for stewed vegetables , they refused the prices are much higher compared to restaurants in the area

On returning to the hotel in the evening along the beach from one of the adjacent restaurants, we found the gate to the beach padlocked. Even though there was a security guard at the gate he could not or would not open the gate to let us back into the hotel, even though we had our key cards and explained that we were guests. The G4S manager was called and he handled the situation appallingly and was rude and confrontational. The Southern Sun manager eventually arrived and he was at least apologetic, but the gate remained closed and we eventually climbed over a low wall into the swimming pool to get back into our hotel! It is apparently a new policy to lock this gate at 18:00, but there is no signage to that effect at the gate (or anywhere else). This despite the fact that there is a security guard on duty at that gate all night. (Just give him a key!). "Security" was the reason given, but in my opinion, this negates the advantages that the hotel offers in terms of location and we shall stay elsewhere next time.

Still a great place to stay in Maputo, but didn't quite live up to our previous experiences there. The main attraction of this hotel is it's location, right on the beachfront and surrounded by good restaurants. On past visits to the hotel we could walk along the beach to restaurants and back in the evening, but not anymore.

Right on the beach. Good security. Buffet dinner was excellent, lots of choice. Room was perfect, lots of space. Great bar service. Everyone was very polite. Some ladies appeared in the bar, of er, dubious 'working' arrangements. But they were friendly enough to chat to and I politely declined their suggestions.

Staff that cannot speak english is a problem. It takes quite a while to explain what you want to order. I recommend that they employ english-speaking staff as waiters.

The location of the hotel and the view from the restaurant ensures a special experience. May/June is also a great time of the year to go to Maputo. The wind was not disturbing at all.

The bathrooms are very out dated for the price of the hotel. Need an absolute remodel of the bathrooms. The carpet need an upgrade too. Another thing, the beach is nice but dirty, the sand is filled with dirt, and the Hotel should manage the entire beach section, I caught young kids throwing trash on the beach, and I told them to pick it up, but not one guard working around the facility made those kids stop, or gave them a warning. The hotel must invest in protecting and keeping the beach area cleaned.

The hotel is in a great location, stunning view, and the food is delicious, but the rooms need to be upgraded, especially the bathrooms, very out dated. Balcony didn't come with small table set. There should have been one in my room, but there was none, so I put the desk chair out on the balcony.

The gym could have been better equipped. Local vendor on beach could walk up to pool edge to try and get you to buy something while you were swimming
