How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI had a wonderful stay at Onguma. It was the perfect place to end my Namibia trip. The facilities were great, the campsites felt private, and the staff were excellent. The waterhole offered amazing wildlife sightings—I even saw two leopards during dinner. The sunrise game drive was relaxed and enjoyable, with snacks and coffee included. The guide was knowledgeable, and the staff made the experience even better. I highly recommend Onguma.

Verified reviewI’m grateful I had a bit of a discount through Booking.com, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to experience this incredible place. Everything was truly special. The staff, the food, the facilities, the ANIMALS!!! Can’t say enough good about my experience. It is a campsite, but the facilities (shower, toilet, kitchen area) make it feel like an outdoor hotel room. Fantastic!
Other than the price (I am on a tight budget!) I wouldn’t change a thing. It was amazing!

Verified reviewOnguma Tamboti is approximately 100m from the Etosha Park Namutoni Gate. You drive through the Onguma Private Game Reserve to get to the campsite. Each campsite has its own ablution facilities, and the only campsite on our 4 week trip that provided a hose to fill up our water tank. The main area has a swimming pool, and also a bar and restaurant overlooking a waterhole. The waterhole is lit up at night, so you can see the animals drinking water whilst having dinner and drinks. Definitely enjoyed staying here more than what we did in the Etosha NP itself!

Verified reviewIncredibly friendly staff and nice private pitch.
Restaurant was very overpriced for poor quality microwaved food. We ordered ‘seasonal grilled vegetables’ and received a bowl of microwaved cauliflower and broccoli. Ordered ‘chickpea and vegetables curry’ that was lacking any chickpeas.
Dear Laura, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your dining experience did not meet your expectations. We always aim to provide fresh, high-quality meals and it’s clear we fell short in this instance. Your comments about the “seasonal grilled vegetables” and the “chickpea and vegetables curry” are concerning and we have shared this with our kitchen team to investigate and take corrective action. This is not the standard we strive to maintain and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. We value your input and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again for a much-improved experience. Kind regards, Onguma Management

Verified reviewThis place is not a campsite, it's an outdoor lodge. Helpful staff, and by far the fanciest place to camp in. Private bathroom with hot shower, sink for laundry, sink for dishes, sink for the bathroom. Lights everywhere, hose for water and so on. Good place to stop and rest without being bothered about the lion or elephant walking near you.
Since it's so good it gets very very busy, but not noisy, of course depending of the neighbors.
Dear Richard, Your wonderful review made our day! Thank you for taking the time to give details about your recent stay at Onguma Tamboti Campsite. Hope to welcome you back soon. Kind regards, Onguma Management

Verified reviewmy all time favorite campsite in namibia! i wish i stayed longer. the campsite itself is beautiful and secluded, the bathroom is fully indoors, which is great during colder months. the pool area is nice, and the restaurant with a view of a watering hole is so cool! it’s a great spot for a drink with a view. the service was impeccable.
the food at the restaurant could be a bit better.
Dear Julia, Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your comments—both the praise and suggestions. Hope to welcome you back for a longer visit next time! Kind regards, Onguma Management

Verified reviewWe camped with a roof tent, so this review refers to that experience...Close to Etosha if you dont want to stay inside the park, good to have a clean room and private Bathroom/kitchen area
The lodge has a waterhole, but as it is so noisy from people eating and conversing, no animals other than birds came all night. It's a private game reserve, but you cannot drive around on your own, all the guided tours were sold out and anyway overpriced. Going back, we would have stayed an extra night inside Etosha
Dear Blooders, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re pleased to hear that you appreciated the convenience of our location near Etosha, as well as the private bathroom and kitchen facilities during your camping stay. We’d like to take this opportunity to clarify a few points for future guests and to offer some context regarding our policies. As we are currently in Namibia’s high season, we strongly recommend pre-booking all guided activities to avoid disappointment, as they tend to fill up quickly. We understand how frustrating it can be to miss out, and we are always happy to assist with advance reservations. Regarding self-driving, we do limit vehicle access within our reserve. This is part of our broader effort to reduce carbon emissions and protect the integrity of the wildlife experience. The reserve is large and remote, and unsupervised driving can be difficult to monitor effectively while also ensuring guest safety and minimizing disruption to the animals. Lastly, we understand your concern about noise near the waterhole. We do our best to maintain a tranquil atmosphere, though during busy evenings it can occasionally be livelier. Your comments will be taken into account as we continue to improve the guest experience. We hope to welcome you back in the future for a more complete and relaxing stay. Kind regards, Onguma Management

Verified reviewThis was one of the best campsites we stayed in in Namibia. Beautiful plot surrounded on 3 sides by trees so not on top of neighbours. Clean ensuite facilities with toilet separate from shower - much appreciated! Also nice amount of counter space in the bathroom and cooking/sink area. Main building overlooks a lovely waterhole with game and birds. We had a lovely breakfast here. Very peaceful place perfectly situated just outside Namutoni Gate to Etosha.
Nothing.
