Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing not to like - we just spent a whole day relaxing on the site
The kindness of the manager Paula who went out of her way to provide comfort at a distressing time. The staff could not have been more attentive. Chiquitita provided excellent full body massages - very relaxing and relieved a lot of tension from long hours of driving.

RomaniaUnfortunately the river cruise was fully booked by the time we arrived, so book it in advance.
Amazing place, right near the river and Popa Falls. Great place to relax after many days spent camping in the bush. Helpful staff and delicious food. Definitely coming back if i'm in the area.

NetherlandsWe loved this place. Beautiful location, right in the national park. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with many different seating options where you can watch the waterfalls and surroundings. The bungalows are clean and nice with a private terrace with views across the river and waterfalls. Staff is very helpful and kind. The sunset cruise offered was really good, we saw lots of wildlife.

South AfricaThat we only stayed one night
A fantastic stay in the most beautiful location. Absolutely stunning location and property. A must see. Words cannot describe this total surprise. Accommodation was clean and beautiful with a view over the river. So nice to have dinner on the deck, almost on the river. I loved everything!

United KingdomThe only thing we didn’t like was parking was a walk from the room. It was a nuisance as we were travelling and self catering so we were often needing to visit the car. There were staff to help with the initial carrying of bags.
Everything. Lovely room, facilities better than I expected, location and views exceptional.

IrelandKnob fell off shower door, the bathroom mats felt wet and squishy and the shower tray felt like it was suspended in a precarious way. However all this outweighed by all the pisitives and I'd happily have spent another night there.
The staff were so nice and helpful, well trained. Meals were excellently prepared, much thought has gone into making sure the food is a real treat here. The setting by the rushing Popa falls was so nice, the sound of rushing water like a white noise to soothe one to sleep. A little deer like creature appeared before our cabin in the morning, so beautiful.

United KingdomThere are very few activity options, which only operate when a certain number of clients is reached, and hence we were not able to do an evening river cruise, which was somewhat disappointing. It also seems that any activities need to be prebooked well in advance, but that wasn't clearly communicated to us when booking via Booking.com.
The location and the food is excellent. The bungalows are comfortable and ours had a great view to the falls.

United KingdomNothing springs to mind.
I chose to reserve accommodation at White Sands Lodge because I needed a suitable stopover on my journey from Kasane to Windhoek. Other options in the vicinity of Popa Falls were available, but White Sands seemed most conveniently accessible from the main road (B8). On arrival, I quickly realised that convenient access was not the only reason to choose this option. The lodge provides very comfortable chalet accommodation with excellent facilities. These include the option to self-cater but we chose to have dinner at the restaurant overlooking the most attractive site of the cascade. The food was excellent, as was the service. Our only regret was that we were not able to stay longer and enjoy the environment and swimming pool.

United StatesHardly any guests made the area feel off. Tons of people working in and around. Some large buildings unused. Wifi works in a 50 meter radius area not convenient to your room or even the bar/restaurant.
Staff was lovely and friendly. Nice chalets with decent views. Slow tempo and easy going. Karla is awesome and friendly. The area could have lots to offer but the city is fairly local and the game drive area would be no more than two days at most.

United KingdomBe prepared for more camp site than the lodge Rooms are big size, but very basic eg no Aircon in rooms, hot water intermittent, bedside lights there but no socket to plug in We never checked in, and no one seemed to know what to do when we arrived Overall though, if you’re looking for a spot to stay around Divundu for Bwabwata etc, this is a great spot. Just be prepared for it to be a tad random!
Superb location - right on the okavango river and the nearby falls. People travel in to experience the location. Wow! Surrounding location - easy access to Bwabwata and Mahango … both of which were great (we’d seen many NPs in Namibia and these were some of our favourites) Staff mainly super friendly - restaurant team are great. Food was excellent - we were impressed by every dish every evening.

ItalyWe had a increscious episode… I made reservations with Booking.com many months before for 3nights (1-2-3 aug 2024) sent an advance payment for 1st night - also before leaving home I wrote to the manager and he confirmed me all! Well, when we arrived there ( after long and tired way from Maun) they had just 2 nights (2/3) …!! After they solved to reserve the room in another resort (Shemetu) nice and free dinner.. OK, but the “sad surprise” remained!!
The chalet, position …

SpainSome parts of the lodge are still under construction. The wifi signal is really poor.
The rooms are amazing, with astonishing views: you hear the water, you enjoy the sunset and the sunrise... You are surrounded by nature. The location is magical, with the Popa Falls and the incredible restaurant terrace next to the river. The staff are wonderful: so professional, so nice, so kind, so... everything! The sunset cruise is a must. Don't miss it! To sum up: lovely stay.

This lodge is located at the Popa falls. Great views on the small waterfalls. Every cabin has its own deck with a lot of privacy. The food was excellent with nice wines for a reasonable price. They are taking good care of you.
