    The room.

Overpriced. Dinner was a deception. Too expensive and no quality. The rosbife was too much cooked, dry and very hard. We paid for the dinner and breakfast 340 at Booking per person. And then the property charged 480 + 240 for dinner and breakfast for the rest of guests that have no meals included. That’s overcharging with an unacceptable price. I didn’t paid not even half of that in any other of the 15 lodges I have been in Namibia. Scandalous

The kindness of the manager Paula who went out of her way to provide comfort at a distressing time. The staff could not have been more attentive. Chiquitita provided excellent full body massages - very relaxing and relieved a lot of tension from long hours of driving.

There was nothing not to like - we just spent a whole day relaxing on the site

We loved this place. Beautiful location, right in the national park. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with many different seating options where you can watch the waterfalls and surroundings. The bungalows are clean and nice with a private terrace with views across the river and waterfalls. Staff is very helpful and kind. The sunset cruise offered was really good, we saw lots of wildlife.

A fantastic stay in the most beautiful location. Absolutely stunning location and property. A must see. Words cannot describe this total surprise. Accommodation was clean and beautiful with a view over the river. So nice to have dinner on the deck, almost on the river. I loved everything!

That we only stayed one night

Everything. Lovely room, facilities better than I expected, location and views exceptional.

The only thing we didn’t like was parking was a walk from the room. It was a nuisance as we were travelling and self catering so we were often needing to visit the car. There were staff to help with the initial carrying of bags.

The staff were so nice and helpful, well trained. Meals were excellently prepared, much thought has gone into making sure the food is a real treat here. The setting by the rushing Popa falls was so nice, the sound of rushing water like a white noise to soothe one to sleep. A little deer like creature appeared before our cabin in the morning, so beautiful.

Knob fell off shower door, the bathroom mats felt wet and squishy and the shower tray felt like it was suspended in a precarious way. However all this outweighed by all the pisitives and I'd happily have spent another night there.

The view of the river is amazing. The beach is beautiful.

Hugely overpriced for the quality of accommodation. The rooms are old and shabby. Clearly everything was cheaply done a long time ago. Guest comfort and service are not considered. For the price, we felt completely done in and disappointed. If not for the view, this accommodation deserves a very low rating.

    Property response:

Dear Merinda, Thank you for your review. We can recall you being part of the 2 couples which were unhappy and we have already commented on. We have noted that you have extensive experience in Lodging and their operations, and we could unfortunately not meet your standards in our old and shabby rooms which were newly build in 2023. However we are glad that you enjoyed the location, service and views. Regards, White Sands Management

    Location

Accommodation very basic and poor quality for the price

    Property response:

Dear Mr Barend, Thank you for your very much valued assessment. Unfortunately I could not meet you personally as you arrived late afternoon and you were booked on a self catering basis. I can only recall a short visit from your friends to the restaurant arriving with a self mixed drink , while we served all other valued guests with dinner and yourself requesting a Pizza. Normally we require pre bookings for guests booked on a self catering basis. We have however, always being flexible, gladly accommodated yourselves and delivered the Pizza to the room. Unfortunately we also did not meet in the morning for Breakfast nor on any activities as you left early again. Regards White Sands Management

The location and the food is excellent. The bungalows are comfortable and ours had a great view to the falls.

There are very few activity options, which only operate when a certain number of clients is reached, and hence we were not able to do an evening river cruise, which was somewhat disappointing. It also seems that any activities need to be prebooked well in advance, but that wasn't clearly communicated to us when booking via Booking.com.

    The location is awesome.

Coming from Mobola Lodge, White Sands is way overpriced. Could not sit outside and enjoy the view because of the rain. No canopy in front of the room. The rooms: beds / mattress were like hamocks, way to soft. The shower is a challenge too. The old rusty 2 spiral oven was not very inviting. A Mobola even spices, vinegar, firewood, matches, firelighters and much more were supplied. At 1/ 2 the price !!

I chose to reserve accommodation at White Sands Lodge because I needed a suitable stopover on my journey from Kasane to Windhoek. Other options in the vicinity of Popa Falls were available, but White Sands seemed most conveniently accessible from the main road (B8). On arrival, I quickly realised that convenient access was not the only reason to choose this option. The lodge provides very comfortable chalet accommodation with excellent facilities. These include the option to self-cater but we chose to have dinner at the restaurant overlooking the most attractive site of the cascade. The food was excellent, as was the service. Our only regret was that we were not able to stay longer and enjoy the environment and swimming pool.

    Nothing springs to mind.

Staff was lovely and friendly. Nice chalets with decent views. Slow tempo and easy going. Karla is awesome and friendly. The area could have lots to offer but the city is fairly local and the game drive area would be no more than two days at most.

Hardly any guests made the area feel off. Tons of people working in and around. Some large buildings unused. Wifi works in a 50 meter radius area not convenient to your room or even the bar/restaurant.
