How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Cheated on currency conversion. Badly.
I’m sorry to hear you felt cheated, sadly, it is sadly due to the volatility of the Naira, we choose a flat exchange rate that ensures we do not run at a loss, since we pay our commissions in dollars. We did give you the option to pay in dollars which would have eliminated the need for a local exchange rate. Hopefully we’ll have the privilege to make it up to you the next time you come, as you still have 3 nights stay outstanding from the 7 nights you booked and paid for.

Hotel lacks facilities so there is no on site restaurant or anything else however I believe you can order, there is no sign so it can be challenging to locate it ( typical with many hotels in the country so that they dont pay signage tax ) , hotel looks more like an inn rather than a hotel, overall for one night was ok

Verified reviewQuiet place where you can keep yourself to yourself. Comfortable rooms and safe, calm neighbourhood. Security is good and with the Glovo app you can easily order in food.
Price quoted on booking.com is not the price you pay since the hotel implements their own exchange rate, (to offset the charge from booking.com apparently) so expect to pay slightly higher (approx. 10%). As I explained, it's booking.com who has given them my business, so I don't quite understand why I then have to pay booking.com's 'cut'. Then there was checkout. I appreciate I paid for a half-day extra rate, but this was enforced really quite vigorously with the cut-off at 6pm and I had to leave. There didn't seem to be any wiggle room and seemed unnecessary given that there were rooms empty. The breakfast 'add-on' that was promised didn't really materialise, though i was given some extra fruit. Since I gave a 10/10 rating for my previous visit, one might have expected some better customer relations? Finally you may not get the room you booked. For example, I should have received a room with a balcony but didn't, and still paid the same rate. I was shown a rate card and told that the actual rate was higher than booking.com and all of a sudden my booking.com price was not relevant.. crazy logic. But once your driver has left and you are tired and dripping with sweat, and you make your case.. what can you do? All of this leads me to the conclusion, that whilst this is a pleasant place, there is perhaps too much emphasis on the money side and an unwillingness to compromise which led to bad vibes, rather than a relaxed and jovial atmosphere.

Regarding your choice of rooms, a guest was supposed to check out on the day of your arrival, but she left her stuff in the room and would not return until the night time. We asked for her permission to move her stuff to another room to make room for you, but she declined, that was the dilemma and I’d asked that they inform you of the situation, and upgrade you to a higher category room for free. With all of the efforts we put into building the brand, it is unfortunate to hear cases like these, and I’m hoping we can make it up to you, as well as learn vital lessons to help us serve our guests better. Verified reviewBreakfast was ok but the eggs could be less well done for my taste. Butter was needed for the toast and i would prefer rolls. The location was quiet and calm.
The lounge area could have the drinks in display and been more welcoming.

You don't choose your breakfast and you eat what the chef decided every day, the food was good but not perfect The hotel is more of a 4-star hotel, not 5. The electricity went off many times, and it takes time to turn on the generator, not automatically

Verified reviewWhat a great find!! This place is a hidden gem in Abuja, Nigeria. Located in a quiet and safe part of Abuja, you can't go wrong with this place. Beautiful, clean, exquisite and modern. The art decor around the facility is added bonus. It is like being at home but being waited on. Excellent and courteous staff. Good food and drinks available on requests too. I used their spa facility and OMG, took my breath away. My room was spacious, modern with very comfortable bed and pillows. Work station if on a working holidays. Excellent wifi and quiet! Bathroom is okay. Water temperature was a bit temperamental but on the whole, clean bathroom and towels too. Intercom did not work but you were given a number to text your requests and staff were very responsive. Large screen television with excellent choice of stations. I was able to watch sky news whilst visiting from the UK. Highly recommended and will use again and again!
Water temperature in the shower was a bit difficult to regulate but once you get the hang of it, it worked. Also, an intercom in the rooms will be much better than texting staff from your phone for requests.
