Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Perfect, affordable stop in a great location on the edge of the inner city. Was extremely surprised by the size and quality of the room, as i had an expectation of a boutique in my head and it was anything but.

AustraliaCorps de Garde, Groningen — Dutch Charm with a View Some hotels feel like they could be anywhere. This one couldn’t be anywhere but here. Corps de Garde is a great little Dutch hotel in the truest sense—practical without being plain, warm without fuss, and perched right at the entrance to Groningen’s old town. Step outside and the city opens up like a map you want to get lost in. The restaurant? Exceptionally good—actually, really good—and the breakfast they bring you in the morning is brilliant. Fresh, thoughtful, unhurried. The rooms carry that same Dutch sensibility: clean lines, plenty of light, and in my case, one very large main room with lots of space to stretch out. The showers are excellent. It’s a hotel that works for motorcyclists, too—safe underground parking sits right across the way, so you can tuck your bike in without worry. The service is just right: friendly, attentive, without the over-scripted smile. The kind of staff you actually want to talk to. Sure, my room overlooked the street, which meant privacy could be a challenge—but close the curtains, pour a drink, and you’ve got all you need. Good service, good company, good food. Very Dutch. And that’s the highest compliment I can give.

United KingdomWe stayed in room 5, a lovely room, but it was very dark, even in the daytime. Also, it overlooks the kitchen area, and when trying to sleep, you could hear the staff talking late at night and then early in the morning. Also, think this is where the staff smoke, and this drifts into the room if you have the windows open. Only small things, but could be improved. Would I stay there again?? Probably yes, just because of the staff.
Every member of staff we encountered, were absolutely fantastic. Can't fault the staff one single bit. Great people, all very friendly and helpful, especially Fiona. Thank you for making our trip so good. Staff allowed us to park our motorcycles in the rear secure area, which was very much appreciated.

United KingdomFrom the moment we arrived at Hotel Corps de Garde, we knew we were in for something special. Nestled in a beautifully restored historic building right at the edge of Groningen’s charming city center, this boutique hotel seamlessly blends timeless elegance with modern comfort. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and effortlessly stylish. You can feel the building’s history in every corner, yet the interior design is contemporary and chic – a perfect balance of old-world charm and fresh sophistication. Our room was simply fabulous – spacious, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully equipped with all the modern amenities we needed. The bed was like a cloud, the bathroom was immaculate, and we loved the little personal touches that made the stay feel extra special. What truly sets Corps de Garde apart, though, is the service. The staff were exceptional – genuinely friendly, attentive without being intrusive, and always eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. From insider tips on where to eat and explore, to a delicious breakfast that was a highlight in itself, everything was done with care and pride. The location couldn’t be better. Just a short walk from all of Groningen’s main attractions, yet peaceful enough to feel like a retreat from the bustle of the city. Whether you’re in town for culture, shopping, or just to soak in the local vibe, this hotel is the perfect home base. We left feeling completely relaxed, thoroughly spoiled, and already dreaming of our return. Hotel Corps de Garde isn’t just a place to stay – it’s an experience to savor. Highly recommended – a true gem in Groningen!

The location was perfect! A small walk into town but still relatively quiet at night. Parking in the garage across the street was very convenient. The building is stunning and really well decorated. We had a room with a balcony, perfect spot for a drink in the sun. The staff was so friendly and made you feel very welcome. The breakfast was amazing as well! Highly recommend this hotel.
