Spacious rooms. Welcoming staff. Great continental breakfast. A well stocked honesty bar. We have stayed here on multiple occasions and this hotel in the centre of Bolsward never fails to impress.

Breakfast - The table was set up for us every morning with a variety of local bread, pastry, cheese/meat, yogurt/fruit/granola and juice. The staff was very attentive serving tea/coffee made to order. Room - spacious, airy with large windows, sitting area and the most comfortable bed I have ever enjoyed in a hotel. The common areas in the gardens are wonderful places to enjoy a glass of wine and relax.

I had a little bit of trouble finding a comfortable place to work on my computer — the easy chairs slumped, but the table was too small and those seats were too hard. It’s a minor complaint, anyway.

Breakfast was excellent, thank you! But the main draw for me was the rich history of the property.

Beautiful setting, relaxed, nice to have the donkeys there, picnic outside in garden, nice breakfast, parking, comfortable bed. Although didn’t need it this time, the honesty bar was great to have.

We were quoted a total of £419 by Booking.com for 4 rooms for our stay on 19/20 June. Our party paid individually, three of us the same amount but the fourth member of the group significantly more(€50+ difference). In a subsequent telephone discussion with the owner on the morning we departed he agreed with me that a mistake had been made and that the fourth member should have been charged the same amount as the others. My understanding was that the difference would be repaid on to my card. As yet nothing has appeared on my card to this effect. I would be grateful for any intervention on my behalf that you are able to make. I also will be following this up with the hotel myself. Many thanks. Happily after contacting the manager, the overpayment was refunded. Excellent customer relations. 18/07/24

Breakfast was a bit more expensive than we anticipated.

The accommodation was spacious, warm and light. The separate lounge area was ideal and large. Hosts were friendly and accommodating. We really appreciate the stocked fridge and honesty bar. It is a lovely historic building in a really great town. We walked and enjoyed the town and restaurants.

the TV is in the living room, where the laundry table is also. There is no laundry table in the bathroom. Too bad the TV is not in the bedroom, where you can watch more relaxed than in the living room. Breakfast is excellent, but miniature.

sink was outside bathroom. Not the biggest deal but a little weird. No real place to put luggage for easy access except on the floor. Did not/coild not figure out how to find recception. Instructions would be helpful :)

No air conditioning but by opening the windows at night we were able to get enough cross ventilation. There were no screens.

It was spacious and clean. The location was great, we did not use our car but walked everywhere.

This is a beautiful set of buildings that have been thoughtfully redesigned to make a wonderful place to stay. Quiet, very comfortable and relaxed, Great staff and lovely animals.

Excellent service and value for the money. Breakfast and dinner served at the table. The staff and owner are always very helpful. We travel with a 4 year old. She loves the donkeys(and the owners old dog), and the enclosed garden(s) makes it possible for the adults to relax even when she is spinning around doing her activities. It is not a place with a playground, but the whole setup with plenty of outdoor space makes it a very nice, relaxing place to stay also for families with children. This must be our 4th stay, and we will return!

The bathroom was a litte dated with a in bath shower and the patio door had sliding locks but neither troubled us too much considering the age of building and the location.

The breakfast for a change was not a buffet but instead a laid out table and it was lovely and very filling for a 90k bike ride.

Everything was perfect.

We have stayed here before and have never been disappointed. This is a wonderful place and it makes an excellent home base for touring around Friesland. The breakfast is excellent and the rooms are spacious and cozy. Really feels like a home away from home. The back terrace is lovely to sit out on and possibly visit with the two burros that live on the premises. The staff is extremely hospitable, and they make you feel welcome.

The bathroom could use some hooks for hanging and a counter/table surface to place your toiletries on. The bathroom is huge so there is plenty of room.

We loved the property - the rooms are wonderful with the separate lounge. Convenient to everything and for exploring on foot. Parking at the premises which was great. Coffee/tea and honor snack bar is great. The most wonderfully comfortable beds!
