How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Expensive by hostel standards. Having said that, it's pretty much the only 'budget' range option I found in Enschede. No towel included, which feels a little silly given the price. I think you can rent a towel from reception. But if you come outside of check-in hours, you can't even get that. The location is noisy, probably more so because I was there on a Friday. As far as I'm concerned, the noise when you're trying to sleep outweighs the benefits of the central location. At least they have a vending machine where you can get earplugs, though earplugs bring their own discomforts sometimes. Very limited space to leave your luggage. I'd never been denied to leave luggage or charged extra for it. Even if they accept your luggage and you leave it beyond noon I think, they charge you for it.

Verified reviewThe hostel is super modern and clean, and the way the bunk beds are set up is very clever - each bed has a curtain so you have privacy (and darkness). the bathrooms and lounge area are both very nicely done.
Unfortunately our room shared a wall with a club so there was loud music all night long until 3:30… it was so loud / vibrating that we couldn’t sleep. I don’t think this is an issue in all rooms but unfortunately we were severely affected.

Verified reviewThere is a serious safety issue. One of the guests sharing the room with me told me that his laptop was stolen from the room. This raises serious concerns about security and who has access to the rooms-guests, cleaning staff. This issue needs to be taken seriously and properly addressed.

Verified reviewImmaculately clean hostel ran by the friendly owner & his super team. Location could not be better as it's in the heart of the city just a few steps from the old Market Square . Special thanks to the young Irish lady on reception for her help checking in & for listening to my stories. Little things can make a big difference & the owner has done everything perfectly here, very comfy beds, nicely designed rooms with black out curtains , super showers & perfect staff. If you want evening entertainment you're spoiled for choice as there's plenty restaurants , bars & cafes in the area. I highly recommend staying here to anyone that has the chance.

Verified reviewThe staff is so nice and very helpful! The hostel is very clean. There is a kitchen you can use. You can eat your food in their bar. Two supermarkets in walking range. Towels can be rented if you forgot to bring your own. I loved the curtain you can close, so you can create privacy sleeping in your bed. Located in the middle of the city centre, so everything was less than a 5 minute walk: trainstation, bars, clubs, tourist centre, market, shops, theater, concert hall, a casino. I was there during the summer. The city sometimes organizes events. I enjoyed a free classical concert on friday and a free sing-a-long concert on saturday in the city square. Beautiful parks nearby. There was a festival at Volkspark and every saturdaymorning at 9:00 am, there is a free Parkrun at Van Heekpark, so you can run/walk a 5K parcours or be a volunteer. The tourist office offers a guided citywalk on saturday. You can climb the church tower on sunday. Around the corner I found a micro brewery Stanislaus Brewskovitch located in a church. Enjoyed dinner and their draught beer in the secret garden. The hostel itself is next to the oldest café of Enschede. I you want to have a drink and step back into time go to ‘t Bolwerk. If you want to combine your stay with a run plan your stay during Enschede Marathon or one of the other races during the year.
Unfortunately not a 10, but minus 2 points. The hostel is next to a club. Allthough the hostel provides free earplugs, the low bass sounds is something you will feel lying in your bed. Best thing you can do is turn on the airconditioning and create white noise to distract you from this.

Verified reviewThe guest in the room didn’t respect privacy and was semi nude. Drunk and heavily intoxicated I was traumatized for weeks and had to take therapy for the same. We also decide to early check out and informed the staff early on but we weren’t given any alternative. Our booking was on weekend and the surrounding areas were playing very very loud music we couldn’t sleep until 4am cause the noise and the vibrations were too loud and severe to let anyone sleep. The ac was only not working and it was too hot if we closed the curtains and not properly ventilated. I had noise cancellation headphones on and could still hear music coming into the room.

You booked a shared dormitory, where privacy is limited by nature. When you informed us in person that another guest was intoxicated and behaving inappropriately, we acted immediately — reviewing CCTV footage (from common areas) and asking that guest to leave the hostel the same day, despite them also having a multi-night booking. Your early checkout was communicated to us as due to a change in your schedule, unrelated to any hostel issue. As per our policies — consistent with standard hospitality practices — refunds are not provided for early departures due to personal plan changes. Your visit coincided with a lively city‑center weekend — something beyond our control but often appreciated by guests who enjoy our prime location. Naturally, this may come with some increased noise, which we advise light sleepers to consider when choosing city‑center accommodation. Regarding the AC and ventilation: all systems are new, fully operational, and monitored by CO₂ sensors to ensure proper airflow. No issues were reported during your stay, either by you or other guests. We would have gladly assisted if notified. While we regret that your stay wasn’t fully enjoyable, we believe we handled your concerns promptly and professionally. Based on your feedback, we would recommend booking a private room or hotel in the future, as shared hostel environments may not align with your expectations. unnecessarily complicated check-in, i'm not crazy about places spamming you with semi-important information about your stay. and you get charged extra for a towel - add three euros to the regular price and you have clean guests!

Verified reviewI like the beds and the pod that the guests received. The blinds blocked out all light, my bed was made for me, and the little stars atop your bed were really cute. All of the facilities were incredibly clean. I did not spend much time downstairs, but the common area and kitchen looked great. Password locks on every door made me feel safe, and the monkey motif throughout the hostel was cute. The staff were nice, helpful and pleasant through out my stay.
There was nothing that I did not like during the trip.
