Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing. Everything was perfect!
I highly recommend this boutique hotel in the center of Leiden. It's one of those cozy, yet upscale hotels that you are so happy you stumbled upon, and will recommend to all your friends, and absolutely be back. Stairs really are not too much trouble at all. Its super clean, great hot shower, comfortable bed and plenty of room to relax with a great view of the canal. The friendly staff and Bobby the Corgi mascot added to the pleasure we had during our stay.

United KingdomWe were disappointed that, during a 6 day stay our towels were changed on the second day, but not again. While the beds were remade daily (with one exception when we had a "do not disturb" sign on our door) no attempt to wash the floor was made during our stay. We found the floor to be unpleasantly dirty towards the end of our time in the hotel. It was a shame that the hotel bar was not open in the evenings.
We appreciated the hotel's flexibility with early check-in and holding our bags securely after check-out until we were able to depart. All the staff were cheerful, chatty and friendly. Any queries were dealt with quickly. The hotel is incredibly attractive and in a brilliant location.

United KingdomIt is next door to a beautiful church, which rings every hour...
From check-in to check-out, this beautiful and comfortable hotel was friendly and exemplary. Thanks so much for looking after us so well, even on a short stay. I was lucky enough to have my own lounge and ancient privvy! It's by the water - the outdoor photo is from a river cruise.

United StatesParking is 21 euros/day. Navigation to garage confusing at first for someone unfamiliar with area. Reception desk closed at 19:00 and was not as communicative via booking.com messaging - which caused us to divert plans to arrive in time window Skipped on breakfast as we had little info and it seems to be brought in. Plentiful places to grab a bite nearby so we were very happy. Some noise from another guest as warned possible; but it was tolerable. Used ear plugs to cope with nearby church bells.
Well refurbished property in perfect location. A small squeak and that was dealt with. Bed was great (was two mattress but wide which was nice). AC worked very well. No view to speak of but concern was AC on hot day and it performed well. The stairs were not difficult for someone with average agility. Property memorable and historic ; location prime . Bathroom also very modernized. Nice to be in a property taken care of. We felt this was the nicest physical property of any we stayed at on our trip - luxury without a luxurious price .

United StatesI liked that that the suites were in historic building like from fairytale. We lived on the first floor, but we could see people, but they couldn’t due to special surface of the window.

The location of this hotel is outstanding - the town is stunning and the hotel is in the middle of it - loads of bars and restaurants nearby - there is also an amazing underground car park about 100m away.

Wonderful small, relaxed hotel in an excellent location for walking the city. Easy access by bus from the train station. Very good facilities and staff. Clean and comfortable room with great bathroom. Hotel has lots of new oak stairs and panelling which looks beautiful. We had the topmost room which was good for views and quiet but challenging for 70+ year old knees.

United KingdomParking! Selected places with Parking - Parking is on street at a premium or in a car park some distance away. This meant an additional 16 euro when I expected the hotel to have some! Not clear on website. Also breakfast felt expensive for its size - although beautifully presented.
The staff were friendly, helpful and really engaging. The rooms was nice and felt opulent. Breakfast was very nice but felt small compared to other places we've stayed. Really central spot.

United KingdomHistoric buildings have their constraints. There is no lift; to reach the top floor room, one has to climb two storeys on a very steep spiral stair. Going downstairs with luggage is quite tricky.
Excellent location, close to the centre but on a quiet canal quai. Good underground parking just across the canal from the hotel. A wonderful historic building with a lot of character and perfect views. The top-floor room is very large and airy, looks stylish with exposed roof beams. Everything is spotless clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomRoom was described as 'terrace with city views' but the terrace was a rather dull uninspiring space - would need to climb out of the window to access it from the room and there was no view of the town/city
Room very well appointed with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Location was perfect as it was away from the main business of the town centre but everything was within easy walking distance. Staff very friendly.
