How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe really enjoyed our stay, peace and quiet in the bosom of nature - we highly recommend it as a break from crowded cities. You can experience a bit of village life. The owners are very nice, they will gladly tell you about life here - Bishnu is a great jungle guide, organizer and cook! We could rely on him. We highly recommend it :)
As in other comments - basic standard of stay, but good food and atmosphere instead :)

Verified reviewChital Lodge is perfectly located next to Chitwan National Park, where we were able to walk in to the park for our walking safari during our stay. The yard and dining area is cozy where we spent some of our evenings eating delicious Momos from the kitchen. Our most valuable memory from Chital lodge is the walking safari hosted by stay owner Bishnu, who is knowledgeable walking in Chitwan since a kid, where he took us in to the national park on foot teaching us a lot about the nature, the area and the animals. It was truely a once in a lifetime experience! Learning about Chitwan and Nepal walking through the beautiful terrain and seeing the animals that day! Rooms are bare and for us wanting the experience by the nature was really value for money. Could not recommend enough!! Thank you to Bishnu and your family!
Nothing, great value for money

Verified reviewWonderful stay at Chital Lodge Bishnu and his family welcomed us in the best fashion. We enjoyed a 3 days safari including jeep tour, boat tour and walk tour. Bishnu and his friends are very good at spotting animals and we have been able to observe beautiful birds, rhinos and their babies, blackfaced monkeys, dears… Unfortunately, we run out of luck to see the tiger but they are so difficult to spot. Maybe next time ? We had the opportunity to get food from Bishnu’s wife (at the lodge but also on the go during safari) and it was very good Finally, we had the chance to experience a celebration with friends during the first evening. It was very special and meaningful for us. We fully recommand staying at Chital Lodge and doing safari with Bishnu ! It wasn’t only a safari but kind of a therapy and cultural sharing !

Verified reviewBishnu and Saoru manage a wonderful homestead site with several units for guests. They are now the caretakers of the site that Bishnu's father originally built in the 1980s. It has amazing charm and is located immediately next to Chitwan National Park. You can do multiple types of safari tours and are guaranteed to see lots of wildlife. The food the family prepares is amazing, and they will help you with any arrangements you need. Highly recommended.
Everything was perfect.

Verified reviewPros: Warm, welcoming, family-run setting makes it feel like home, perfect for those wanting to live the true local experience. Simple yet clean facilities, complete with hot water, Wi-Fi, and a fan—especially appreciated for a basic, rural accommodation. Flexibility in payment with international transfers to a Nepalese account, ideal if you use digital banking like Revolut or Wise (avoids the hassle of relying on ATMs). For around $115 USD, you get two nights’ stay, local meals, a couple of beers, and three diverse safari experiences (a walking safari, a sunset river trip, and a private jeep safari, which can be cheaper if shared). Limited activities besides safaris, so to make the most of it, you’ll likely want to book 2-3 safaris per day.
Cons: Very basic and rural; not suitable for those who need modern comforts or aren’t into nature but if you're into it you will love the authentic experience. Journey to the location can be a little complex: requires advance planning with buses and local transportation, plus a bit of walking. Only fans avalaible so check the weather before booking.

Verified reviewBishnu, Saoru and their family are lovely. Bishnu is a fabulous guide. Having grown up in Chitwan he knows the best places to see an amazing range of animals and birds. We were particularly lucky watching 3 tigers, a mum and 2 almost grown up cubs about 100m away, for about 1/2 hr before dark. He also found 3 different deer species, 1 of which was very rare. We saw numerous rhinos, one wallowing in a mud hole with frogs all over her back. Baby rhinos are also very cute! We loved the jungle walk although it was so unseasonably hot it wasn't sensible to do a full day. The river paddle was also fun, particularly seeing elephants with enormous grass stacks on their backs. Overall given our our 2 night in Chitwan we could not have seen much more. We had a great time with the kids, so friendly and chatty, even had some of us up dancing to traditional music. Saoru is a fabulous cook, her food is simple and superb, and was some of the best we had in Nepal, even when compared to quite expensive restaurants in Kathmandu. Her salads and chutneys were wonderful. I understand Nepalese choose their wives by how good their chutneys are, Bishnu is the winner...and he even convinced Saoru to have him!
Rooms could use a coat of paint!

Verified reviewIf you want to have a true experience of the Chitwan National Park with the best local guide who is passionate about the jungle and has a ton of knowledge about the wildlife, then this is the best place for you! Bishnu (the owner of the lodge and guide) is truly amazing! He started answering any questions I had even before I arrived at the area. His wife and his kids are truly adorable and they made me feel like being at home. I went with Bishnu in a half day jeep safari and a full day walking (and boat) safari, as well as some other activities like bird watching. Even if we were not lucky enough to see a tiger, we saw many rhinos, deers and monkeys! Bishnu knows every corner of the forest and he was explaining to us every detail and answering any questions we had. While other guides may show you only the basics without putting much effort, Bishnu is trying his best to find the best spots in the jungle so that the guests could have the greatest experience! One day of my 3 days stay, I was the only guest and Bishnu arranged extra activities especially for me so as not to get bored! Last but not least, the food was fresh and homemade, and it was the best food I had in Nepal! These 3 days full of adventure and great hospitality, was the best part of my trip in Nepal and makes me want to visit Nepal and Bishnu again in the future for sure! Bishnu and your family, thank you for everything!
Everything was perfect!

Verified reviewThe family was welcoming and the kids were really sweet. They really care about their guest and want to give them the best experience possible. The food was probably the best we had in Nepal. The safaris by jeep and walking are really nice and Bishnu is so passionate about the wildlife and an amazing guide. I you want to experience relaxing jungle vibes that's the best way.
the rooms are really simple. Just a bed and a small table and everything is humid because of the jungle. But it didn't bother us.

Verified reviewI have absolutely loved my time here. I wasn’t expecting such a sweet and welcoming family after the hectic days I spent in Kathmandu. If you want to have the best safari experience, this is the place. Bishnu it’s so pasionate about everything, you will feel that wildlife is truly his passion. We had the luck to see 3 tigers in the same place and a lot of ryhones, I think we spotted in one day more than 10. I did safari and walk in jungle, both experience were unique.
The lodges are quite basic, they are not for those seeking comfort. You only have a bed and a small table and feels very humid. For sure I would return, just for the experience.

Verified reviewIt was an unforgettable experience being in the jungle! For me as a "cityboy " it was amazing seeing rhino's elephants monkeys crocodiles deer and various birds! Bishnu was my private guide because there were no other tourists. He made a very nice programme for 3 days: villagewalk, jeepsafari junglewalk canoetrip and visiting the crocodilefarm breeding centre. At the junglewalk cousin Manoj was also there to get experience to be a guide later. The meals ( 3 times a day) were very delicious! It was really emotional to say goodbye after such a nice and warm stay! Many thanks with love Hans Namasté !
