How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewVery friendly and hospitable staff. I had some trouble with cash on the first day of my stay. They were very generous and loaned me some cash and agreed to let me pay by checkout. Will never forget their kindness.
Breakfast could have been better with a live cooking counter, and more options on the buffet.

Verified reviewThe staff are incredible. They are friendly, extraordinary helpful and kind and lovely to talk to. The breakfast is insane value, a great buffet spread every morning with tea, coffee and eggs your way. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and clean and the shower was a perfect pressure. The wifi was strong, the location is excellent. I honestly couldn’t rate this place highly enough. Huge shoutout to the owner and the bar/restaurant staff who took care of us. Worth every cent of the stay.

Verified reviewIncredible hotel, our room even got upgraded 🤩 very kind and helpful staff, we had a problem with the shower and it got fix in less than 30’. Very central location, they kept our bags while we were trekking. We’ll come back for sure!

Verified reviewWe stayed at this hotel twice – at the beginning and end of our trip to Nepal – and had a great experience both times. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Although the street outside was quite busy during the day, it was surprisingly quiet at night, allowing for a restful sleep. One of the highlights was the breakfast – it was by far the best we had during our stay in Nepal, with a great variety and excellent quality. We also enjoyed dinner at the hotel and spent some relaxing evenings with drinks at the bar. Overall, a great place to stay in Kathmandu – comfortable, well-located, and with excellent food and service. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewStaff were very friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, and the bathroom was excellent. The hotel is located right in the heart of Thamel, and travelling to the various temples and museums in Kathmandu is very easy. There are plenty of good quality restaurants nearby and the nightlife is quite lively. Breakfast was fresh, and coffee was great. The room service menu was delicious. Very nice hotel for its location and price.
The electricity kept getting disconnected to the hotel at some times. When that happened, the hotel lift didn't work and we had to walk up. The AC and TV and lights all stopped when the electricity went away. Hotel staff worked to fix this promptly. The morning breakfast selection could be a bit more varied.

Verified reviewThe room was clean and spacious, the bathroom was luxurious, the staff were great and they helped us during and even after our stay. They stored our luggage after the check out while we toured the city. The tour manager was great as well, he helped us with the booking and then rescheduling of flight tickets to Pokhara.

Verified reviewThe staff were amazing and attentive, can’t say enough nice things about the people working here! The breakfast buffet was amazing, I would visit again just for the breakfast. Location is good.
The only downside is that this hotel is very, very loud at night. The walls are thin and everyone is coming and going at all hours of the night and don’t seem to mind the quiet hours. We hardly slept the two nights we spent here.

Verified reviewQuite a few things. They upgraded our room free of cost. The location was not noisy despite being in the centre of the Thamel district. Laundry arrived on time and staff was helpful in booking cabs for us. The momos they made was really good!
Breakfast in particular and food in general there can do with a bit more variety. We faced issues in communicating with some members of the staff in English as instructions sometimes got lost or misunderstood but that's not the case exclusively with this place, so I wouldn't hold it against them. Though I'd like the staff to get better in understanding and helping out guests.
