How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewClearly this was my best trip to the southern Nepal. Pristine nature, family treatment, comfortable lodging, delicious organic meals and privacy - all that in a "paradise" spot in the Eco Friendly Homestay in Bardiya. My longing to see wildlife was fulfilled; encounter with leopards, tigers and the largest herd of elephants was a sheer thrill. On top of that the night in the Tree House to complete the real jungle experience. Love the friendly guides and the attentive host of the Eco Friendly Homestay. You are doing faboulus work, THANK YOU !
Really cannot think of any downsides of this serene spot. The pricing was also reasonable. Only wish I could stay there longer :))

Verified reviewI highly recommend Bardiya Eco Friendly Homestay! The whole family took such great care of me, from room to meals to wildlife safaris and more. The place has a truly warm family feeling. The bed may have been the most comfortable I've slept in in Nepal. The food is amazing, with almost all the ingredients sourced from the family farm. And Shardul was completely committed to giving me a great safari experience, even during the monsoon season when fewer viewings are expected. I had an extraordinary tiger experience thanks to his thoughtful guiding :)

Verified reviewI came to bardia after staying in chitwan for 11 days with no tiger sighting so I decided to try my luck here in Bardia I’m so happy I came because this place is Amazing And bardia eco Homestay made it even better First off Shardul and his family make you feel like it’s your home and part of their family, always making sure your good and the service is amazing The food is fresh and organic and the property is secluded like a little peaceful retreat Everyday they made me breakfast lunch and dinner with big portions and whatever I wanted or needed Also shardul is a guide and he knew how much I wanted to see the tiger so he did his best to show me the good spots we ended up seeing the tiger on 7 diffrent days which is wild he’s really passionate and knowledgeable about the wildlife here and it’s nice to see the community of guides here all with respect and love for the wild animals I didn’t plan on staying too long but I ended up staying for 17 nights as I really enjoyed my stay obviously Also the rooms are spacious and pretty brand new probably the best place I’ve stayed in Nepal and I’ve been travelling here for over 4.5 months Rooms have aircon and fan and very nice shower and bathroom I also got to witness a massive herd of Elephants and lots of wildlife which was magical The village itself is so beautiful and it’s a place that’s super special still untouched by mass tourism It feels very authentic I highly recommend staying here and I can’t wait to come back already
There was nothing I didn’t like

Verified reviewWe only had 3 nights as our visas were running out, but made the most of it with 2 full day safaris organised by Shardul. Our second day was Shardul's last safari of the season ahead of monsoon, and we managed to spot both rhino & tiger, keeping Shardul's tiger success rate at 100% for all guests this season! It was obvious how much it meant to him as much as us that we saw one. Accommodation is fantastic and amazing value - simple room with a really comfy bed; good AC; beautiful garden with fruit trees. Food was great too. Shardul also helped us organise our buses both getting there and onwards, meaning we felt very looked after all the way through. Highly highly recommend!

Verified reviewShortly after booking a room Shardul reached out to us and provided us with travel information. Once in Nepal our plans changed and Shardul was very helpful in picking us up and accommodating us an extra night. Upon arrival we immediately felt very welcomed and comfortable at this lovely homestay! Everyday Shardul and his family provided us with delicious Nepali meals made from the fresh vegetables and fruits from their garden. Thanks to the preparation and attention to detail there was always enough variety of food even on the long safari days. Our absolute highlight in Bardia was going on jeep and walking safaris with Shardul himself. With his professional experience and a bit of luck on our side, we were fortunate to spot the elusive tiger! Shardul’s competence in his profession and passion for wildlife conservation made us feel safe while out in the jungle. We regret having to leave and hope to be back in the future! Thank you Shardul + Family for you kind and warm hospitality!

Verified reviewI loved staying with Shardul and his family for a few days! They are really friendly and make you feel at home from the minute you arrive. My room was quite spacious, clean, and comfortable. It was great to have AC (Bardia can get quite hot and humid) and hot showers. The home-cooked dinners were incredible - some of the best food I had while I was in Nepal. Shardul is an excellent safari guide - friendly and knowledgeable. Over 3 days I was able to see elephants, rhinos, some tigers, and lots of other wildlife!

Verified reviewThe Homestay is really lovely! There are only 4 Rooms so it is quite relaxing there.
You should be aware that you do not get a lot of Information and we had the Impression that the Guide was not really listening to us. At the Safari Shardul did not provided a lot of Information and when we asked something the answer was really short (seemed that we annoyed him with questions). The Park is really lovely but the walking safari has nothing to do with hiking. The Tours Are more expensive than other ones and we have been quite disapointed of the guidance. There are other Guides who provide much more information and are a Little Bit more motivated.

Verified reviewThe accommodation looks very nice and cozy. The room was wonderful, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was really good.
The only downside was the lack of a hot shower. Also, keep in mind that activities can be relatively pricey depending on what you choose. I went for the camping experience — a bit expensive, but definitely worth it!

Verified reviewShardul and Ankita (and others as well) were very helpful and friendly. It is a good place to combine relax with jungle explorations: one day you explore and get impressions (and Shardul will definitely help you to see tigers and other animals), another day you just sit on a terrace relaxing and go for breakfast/lunch/dinner from time to time. Then you can repeat :-) The hosts will help you with everything you want.
Everything was great.

Verified reviewWe extended our stay and remained with Shardul and his family for 5 amazing days. The room is big, clean and comfortable and the garden is so beautiful to sit in, and we enjoyed all the great food there. Many of us asked for the recipes as we could not get enough, and Shardul’s wife Ankita happily promised to share 😊 The village close by is full of friendly people, the temple and market are worth a visit. We went for the safari 3 times and saw so many animals and enjoyed the fresh air and nature. Shardul is a wonderful guide who will answer every question. His family and staff are so attentive and makes you feel at home. We will definitely come again to this beautiful place.
Nothing, all was great!
