Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThis is our 2nd time staying in Mingtang’s Boutique Cottage. The last time we stayed was 2 years ago and when we returned this time we got a beautiful warm welcome. The property is really lovely, well kept, clean, the rooms really cosy and the breakfast is generous and tasty.

Polandnot a single thing
We enjoyed our stay i Mingtang Cottage to the fullest and we regretted it was time to leave! The owner is a super friendly, kind and helpful lady - we enjoyed our short conversations very much. She is passionate about quality and decor of the Cottage. The staff is very helpful, communicative and very kind. We liked our corner room very much - from beautiful furniture, through comfy beds to lots of light (two windows) and balcony. A big plus is the fact that the cottage and its rooms are tucked away from the street - behind shops and the garden - much more quiet. And the Cottage's garden is a marvel! With seven types of palm trees, lots of flowers and a spotless grass... plus hammocks... plus table with chairs in the green :-) Breakfasts were freshly made (even though we came down on different hours every day), tasty and nutritious. The room where it's served is tastily furnished, quiet and comfy. We spent there five nights and can honestly recommend Mingtang Cottage to those looking for quiet, relaxing place, ran by kind and caring people.

SpainNothing. Would stay here again. We loved it!
Maya was very helpful from the moment we booked our flights from Kathmandu to Pohkara. She told us beforehand about flight delays, etc. The accommodation was superb! Quiet, away from the road and set in a fantastic garden. Just the small details, like flowers in the bathroom, tea on arrival and more! And how can we forget the welcome by Yahoo - the resident Labrador dog. She is gorgeous, wanting plenty of attention (and food 😜) and being a great companion whilst at the property. The property is situated right in town and Maya has plenty of tips to keep you going for days!

What a lovely property in Pokhara on the lakeside drive but located up a small drive so it’s very peaceful and quiet. Incredibly comfortable bed and beautiful gardens where you can sit and enjoy the nature. A delicious breakfast awaits you each morning. The owner and staff are delightful and will assist in any way they can. I liked my stay here so much that I’m back again now! I highly recommend staying here.

Exceptional hospitality from Maya and staff who made us feel so welcome. They helped us arrange a trek, bus tickets, a great massage at a local spa (for a discount), and stored our luggage while we were on our trek. Our room was very comfortable and we also loved the peaceful garden setting and the location right on the Lake Front road.

BrazilMinor things, but should be noted. Our shower was broken, I guess, since it wouldn’t stay in place, we had to tie it with a rope, otherwise we would have to use it as a hand-shower. A/C didn’t work properly, the room was always very hot. Breakfast is a set menu that changes everyday, but they are happy to make small changes whenever you ask for. It's a 25-35 minute walk from the main city center.
If you’re coming back from a long hike in Nepal, this is the place to be. It’s impressive how all the staff feels very connected to the place and does everything to make you feel at home. You can find everywhere photos/ books about the story of Mingtang and how it all started. The garden is gorgeous and it’s quite silent, considering it’s in the city center of Pokhara. The owner is easily available and she can help you with everything, booking bus tickets, planning your day and suggesting restaurants. They make breakfast boxes in case you’re leaving early in the morning!

SingaporeNothing at all,
Mingtang is an exceptional property. Its location, room and service were just superb. The entire property is thoughtfully decorated, homely and peaceful. The room is big, clean, cool during the day & warm during the nights, and bed is super comfortable (and big!). The breakfast, tea and coffee were delicious and the staff were just the most welcoming and most helpful during and even after our stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay at after our trek and would return in a heartbeat.
