How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery conveniently located in the centre of Sauraha, the river view jungle bungalow has very nice staff, comfy beds and nice rooms with balcony and air con. The Place is clean and the restaurant is very good. Try their American Chowmein and their chicken biryani(so good). We stayed 4 nights. We always chose "simple breakfast" that is coffee/tea choice of egg style, toast, butter, jam and fruit or hot dogs. We enjoyed a lot the jeep full day safari tour (10 hours). It was a bumpy hard ride due to the state of roads during the monsoon period in the Nat park and on the way back, luckily at the verh end, we even got hit by super heavy rain and a scary boat ride to cross the river back to town due to the rain but everything was worth it. even if the trip i have to say was very expensive imo. Lunch was included. The guide Mangara is so good, he explains everything and is very knowledgeable and stops every time he sees an animal. We saw 4 rhinos, 1 crocodile, 2 types of monkeys, thousands of deers, bisons, monitor lizards, wild boars and many types of birds. We also did the canoe ride and the elephant safari the next day which we liked even if riding an elephant is not an everyday thing and it can be pretty scary if you re not used but the elephant "driver" was good. The property has a very nice cured garden, is pretty big, and on the first day we even saw a rhino roaming the streets of sauraha undisturbed and free and then he even came close to the property to eat grass. The people working there were knocking at our door to tell us the rhino was close in case we wanted to see it. Of course we wanted! The huge rhino is so cute and harmless amd apparently a mascot in town. Thank you so much to everybody at River view Jungle camp
Everything was good. Maybe prices of excursions are a bit expensive but i didn't enquire in other places as I trusted they were giving me an average price. I have to say that the guide alone , Mangara, is a plus when taking these tours with them as he is always there explaining things and is geuinely nice

Verified reviewLocation was very good. The staff would knock on our door whenever there was a rhinoceros nearby so we could see it. Our first day we saw elephants. Owner set up tours and transportation. Lots of hot water. Good fridge. On site guide. Friendly staff.
The wifi was slow but you could get fast wifi at the office. This time of the year there is lots of smoke in the air.

Verified reviewVery comfortable room, excellent staff, great location, good food. Krishna, the manager arranged all our safaris/ excursions, with Mangara, a superb guide with encyclopediactic knowledge of birds, animals, plants, local Theru culture etc, and there were only my wife and I, guide and driver on all our trips, compared to most of the others we saw with 10/17 people per vehicle. We may have paid more for this treatment, but didn’t even worry about quotes from other tour companies because our experiences were amazing, thanks to Krishna and Mangara. Because of the experience of our guide we saw 11 rhinos, 4 species of deer ,two species of monkeys, sloth bear and golden jackal and 85 species of birds. Best shower recess we had in all Nepal.
One of the taps in the bathroom leaked a bit, but we put a bin under it to catch the water

Verified reviewWe were the first visitors after the place had experienced a flood from the river overflowing from the previous week. To have cleared all the mess from the floods was an amazing effort by the owner and his team as it meant we were able to have a very enjoyable stay and not rearrange anything. They were in the middle of some building works but they had acknowledged that on the Booking.com info, and as it was during the day, it didn't really affect us as we were out on tours. We did a walking tour and jeep safari on one day, both of which were excellently led by our guide Mangara. On the the other day we went to 20,000 lakes where saw loads of birds, some deer and marsh muggers (crocodiles). The breakfasts were good and the room was very comfortable with good A/C. All in all, a lovely couple of days.
The new building meant that we could not see the river from our room, but this is just a small thing compared to all the other good points.

Verified reviewThe manager made us feel so welcomed and valued, and his genuine approach to ensuring every guest has a wonderful experience truly stood out. Rameshji has been really kind and patient during our trip to Lumbini which made the trip safe, pleasant and soo enjoyable. Also, the meals we enjoyed during our stay were simply divine. Somduthji also waited till 23.30 to serve us food and ensured we ate properly. Our guide Mungrahji made our safari ride memorable with his broad knowledge about wildlife. He knew all the good spots to look at rhinos. Each of you contributed in your own unique way to making our stay an experience that we will always cherish. Thank you again for everything and for making us feel at home. Will definitely come back again.
Nothing bad to say.

Verified reviewThe location of the property is perfect (on the Main Street) and the staff are really helpful and nice. The room itself great value for money and good for a couple of nights. The outside is beautiful and the room is comfortable with AC and a fan.
The shower pressure wasn’t great, more like a trickle of water, and with it being so hot/humid a good shower is really important. Ok for a couple of nights but would struggle staying any longer.

Verified reviewEnjoyed our stay here very much, our host was really friendly and offered help whenever we needed it, but wasn't always bothering us. The staff who served us breakfast were always really kind and polite. Beautifully tended garden, full of blooming dahlia's. Clean room, huge bed, lovely bathroom with excellent shower, hot water never a problem. We had a room overlooking the river which was great. Great location in the heart of Sauraha, but nice and quiet, which we liked.
Fortunately, the property is lucky to be expanding and building new rooms... unfortunately, the foundations were being dug during our stay, and the new building is going to be right in front of the old one. We couldn't really sit out on the balcony when they were working as it was noisy and dusty. More outside seating for breakfast would be much better as you look out onto the river. Balcony chairs weren't very comfortable even though they look in keeping with the style.
