How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Japanese, Canadian, Czech, Polish, America guests all gave 10/10 ratings and you, being a local Nepali, are leaving a review asking people to not stay? We are the best budget hotel in town. We run a full house everyday. And even if we don't have a room we put you in our sister hotel next door. You sir lied in your review. Defamation is a crime punishable by law.

Verified reviewAfter a long travel I reached the property only to find it shut, having informed prior about my late arrival I was sent off rudely by the person in charge saying the rooms were full already and that I need to look elsewhere, it was not a pleasant experience at all given the phone number provided was also not received, I was stranded out of no where and this is the first time I am writing a negative review about any property. I requested the boy in charge to reconfirm with the owner but he simply denied stating I should rather not waste my time and look elsewhere, please be careful if you are planning to visit and I suggest not to reach the property after 10PM as it has no signboards and being left in the night with no solution is not a good travel experience. Please improve!

Verified reviewI got mine room upgraded after the dispute that was a good part.
This was the first time I had a proper dispute with the owner of the hotel. The staff at the hotel were super lazy and barely moved to even show the room.
Most people read full listings before booking so as not to have a dispute. Also, there are few things we ask for, like arrival time, at the time of booking. This allows us to Accept or Decline the booking depending on room availability at the requested time. This saves time on both ends. And yes, a courtesy call would further cement the booking. You will be surprised how many people book and never arrive or pickup their phone.

Verified reviewThe manager, his efforts to make you understand what he is offering for the price. The only good thing of this property is the manager . He arranged and managed our stay saving it from being a disaster
Most of it. Sadly. Budget room booked has no attached bathroom. You get decent rooms for 850NPR but here no. Paid extra for a room with bathroom, which has no lock no walls. Has glass window covered with curtains on the terrace. The terrace door wasn't closing, wind seeping through it. Then a different room was arranged after requesting change, thankfully. Heater and bed warmers were also given which saved us through the night of 5°C.
The room I upgraded you is where all the American and European guests stays and have zero complain. My suggestions for everyone from warm climates, please book AC rooms @2600NPR while traveling to Nepal during Winter season. It will be very cold during night. About other things you mentioned: 1) You couldn't close balcony door: because your height is small, locks works, 2) Glass partition instead of concrete is modern architecture, 3) Bathroom door lock was broken by previous guest, we were not aware but fixed now, 4) Shared bathroom is mentioned in the booking page, 5) Budget rooms at 860 you won't find anywhere else that also provides Heated Bed, Hot water showers and drinking. Let's be honest here.

Verified reviewThe staff was very helpful and well behaved, the room was big at this price. Overall the stay was very comfortable.
Only the problem was getting hot water for bath. The hot water come after 10 AM but we have to get ready by then and leave the hotel. But they provided us big electric kettle to warm the water so it was manageable.
