How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery friendly and helpful staff, they solved all my problems and answered all my questions, great. The location is excellent, you are just around the corner of Boudha Stupa, but since it is a bit hidden with a little yard, much less noisy, a oasis next to all the huzzle and buzzle. You'll find a lot of restaurants next door. The place is in general not the newest one, but clean and with everything that one needs.

Verified reviewThey said that they took the booking by mistake when we reached the property. And the renovation going on and there was no room available. Then they tried to provide the other hotel with different charges but that was bad as well. Overall experience is worst in all the aspects.
Here’s a friendlier and more personal version you can use: --- Dear Hemant, Namaste We are truly sorry for the experience you had. We completely understand how disappointing it must have been to arrive and not find your room ready, especially after a long journey. Unfortunately, due to unexpected renovation work and a booking error, we couldn’t provide the room as planned. We tried to arrange an alternative stay quickly so you wouldn’t be left without a place, but we understand it didn’t meet your expectations and we’re really sorry for that. Your feedback means a lot to us, and we’re already working to make sure this never happens again. We would really love the chance to welcome you back in the future and show you the warm hospitality we’re known for. Thank you for sharing your honest experience. Warm regards, Hotel Sherwi Hyul Management

Verified reviewBreakfast was wonderful. You sat down and they promptly went to make breakfast. In a timely manner, the food was in front of you. It was hot and tasty. The room didn't have AC but the windows had screens on them so you could get fresh air. The room was clean and there were nice fluffy towels. Walking up one more flight of stairs from our 4th story floor gave us beautiful views of the Stupa. It was all lit up at night and made for a wonderful place to run meetings I needed to for work. The wi-fi had a great signal and I was able to be apart of the virtual calls without a problem. The hotel was right by shopping and many food options within walking distance. The noise from the city was not bad at all and it was fun to watch from the roof top and room away from the crowds. The Stupa got really busy, but the surrounding streets weren't bad and there were many places to explore.
I wished I'd known beforehand that there wasn't an elevator. I can't always walk the stairs due to a bum knee and I couldn't get down four flights of stairs all the time, so I ended up staying in the hotel's room more than I would have liked. The toilet seat and faucet were very loose and moved around as you tried to use them. I didn't like being stopped on the street by security and being told I have to pay for a cost to walk on the street to get to my hotel. This should have been mentioned before booking. I also just happen to keep my ticket to walk in my bag, so a few days later, I could show it and not have to pay again to get back to our hotel after dinner. Not a great moment when I didn't have anymore cash on me, all our things were at the hotel and the tickets were for a different day. This was nerve racking to hope the security guard wouldn't notice the tickets were expired.

Bathroom door needed fixing but Asmita was amazing and came to the rescue fixing it twice. She was brilliant!

Verified reviewThe breakfast was very good and offered some variety over my 2+-week stay. Additionally, all of the staff were extremely pleasant and the management went out of their way to accommodate my needs, including arranging transportation and accommodation in Pokhara. This is an older hotel with some quirks: some rooms have private baths immediately adjacent to the room itself. However, these are at the front of the hotel and feature stunning views of Boudhanath Stupa (if on 4th floor), sunny exposure and small balconies. There is also a rooftop terrace with superb views. The room itself was huge (with a seating area) and provided everything to make tea/coffee. Potable (sanitized) water provided on each floor. The stupa, restaurants, and various shops are within 3 min walk, yet upon entering the front gate one feels removed from the bustle of the streets. Highly recommended

Verified reviewVerw helpful employees, spacious room with great view. Nice breakfast.
The bathroom was in fact outside of the hotelroom, but connected via a curtain. Certainly less comfortable than usually, but still perfectly acceptable.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was perfect (for me). Healthy and balanced, and delicious! They cook it fresh on the spot when you sit at the table. The hotel location is also ideal, just steps from Boudha Stupa and some of the monasteries I went there specifically to visit. It's located at the end of the road, behind a gate, so it's quite tranquil and calm, away from the busy road. They have reasonably priced laundry service. They also have a common kitchen on the ground floor, for people needing kitchen and fridge access, and a rooftop patio with spectacular view. And the staff — so friendly and helpful. Incredibly convenient and pleasant in every way! I would stay here again and recommend to all my friends/family in a heartbeat.
I didn't know that it was going to be so humid in KTM August!! It was like 80%+ humidity every day — nonstop sweating! I wasn't prepared for that, and assumed (wrongly) that all of the hotel rooms at Sherwi Hyul have AC. The first night I stayed in a room with no AC, it had just a fan, and it was too uncomfortable for me. Maybe for someone from a tropical country used to that kind of humidity it would have been fine, but I'm from Canada, so I'm not used to it. The next morning I requested to be moved to a room with AC, and the manager promptly arranged for the upgrade. The rooms with AC are very spacious and bright and clean and dry, with a direct sightline to the Stupa, and blissful cooling! Unless you're used to hot damp climates, I'd recommend a room with AC (which are, of course, more expensive than the non-AC rooms). Probably in the winter months when it's cold and dry, the non-AC rooms are just fine.

Verified reviewThey serve an excellent breakfast- eggs, toast, fruit, vegetables, tea/coffee; the location is within walking distance to everything including our favourite restaurants: The Orchid & GardenKitchen; if you are Buddhist, it is close to the Boudha Stupa , shops and monasteries. The staff were accommodating, friendly and helpful. I felt very safe.
Need to specifically ask for air-conditioning as not all rooms are air conditioned. If you have mobility issues you need to request a room on lower floors as there is no elevator.
