How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe perfect place to relax right in the heart of Thamel, it truly feels like a slice of heaven. The manager is incredibly sweet and attentive, always making sure you have a great stay. The room was very comfortable, and since I work while traveling, it was ideal for me to feel cozy and still be able to focus on work. I highly recommend this place :)

Verified reviewI had a wonderful stay at The Melo Pomelo Courtyard, tucked away between Thamel and Durbar Square in Kathmandu. The location is ideal — just a 5‑minute walk to major highlights, yet hidden in a peaceful alley where the bustle fades away. The host, Amir made the whole experience personal and effortless. From helping with details about the local food places, to helping me navigate the city, his kindness stood out. My room was cozy, impeccably clean, and beautifully curated with natural decor. The shared courtyard, filled with greenery and sunshine, was by far my favorite spot — perfect for relaxing or socializing with other guests. Amenities like a shared kitchen, hot walk-in showers, added comfort without unnecessary frills. For the price, I felt I got excellent value and genuine hospitality. All in all, a cozy, serene oasis in Kathmandu – highly recommended for solo travelers, couples, or anyone seeking calm in the heart of the city. Pros: Incredible hosts, tranquil courtyard, stylish & clean rooms, unbeatable location, and great value. Cons: As a small guesthouse, there’s no on‑site restaurant or big amenities — but the safe, shared kitchen covers your basic needs. No AC,just a fan.So difficult during the day. Ideal for: Those who prefer boutique charm over standard hotel chains and love a touch of greenery and peace in urban travel.
The window in my room faced directly to the room of the property beside Melo Pomelo. Hence I couldn't open the windows. They do not have AC, just a fan. So it was difficult to manage during the day

Verified reviewMelo Pomelo is a hidden gem in the Old Kathmandu located between the touristy Thamel and Durbar Square right next to a very storied 9th century temple. It is quiet, peaceful, clean and hospitable, with well-decorated rooms, clean beds and a nice little common kitchen. Amir, the owner, is always ready to help and answer any questions. He takes great care of every guest and regularly checks in to see what could make their stay better. I felt truly welcome and comfortable. There are lots of little shops to get everything you need in the bustling neighbourhood. Although it may seem a somewhat hectic to some, I loved it as the sights, sounds and the energy of the place really make you feel like you've stepped into a different world and a different time. Plus, the accommodation itself is very quiet. Melo Pomelo is a beautiful experience of Kathmandu, not just a place to spend the night. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewI went there just for the catchy cozy vibe !! Btw our room was attached to the public alley so it was so uncomfortable ,Privacy issue !! I was so dissapointed as i was hyper conscious about surrounding !! If you are booked for the room attached to pubic alley it will be truly disaster , jus LEAVE !!! Space was also congested !! I asked for other available room btw it was not available so i stayed !!

Verified reviewAmir was super friendly, always trying to help. Our room was really cozy, spacious and well located.
Only negative point is that the bed was not so good, there was like a hole in the mattress and it is a little bit noisy but okay overall.

The guesthouse has a beautiful and calm courtyard, perfect for eating outdoors and relaxing in, a quiet haven away from the busy streets. Verified reviewLoved the decoration of the room, super cosy and comfortable. Staff are amazing, so so friendly and go out of their way to help.
Bathroom smells so badly of sewage - god forbid you leave the door ajar, the whole room will just stink of raw sewage. There's basically no sound proofing, so if you are as unlucky as we were, and your room is opposite a noisy european couple, be prepared to wake up at 4am when they do...

Verified reviewWe had a really nice stay at Melo Pomelo! Amer and the rest of the staff were very nice and helpful. The place offers an escape from the noisy Kathmandu streets thanks to the location on a small alley and the patio filled with plants. The rooms we stayed in were very spacious and had a balcony ! If we ever get a chance to visit Nepal again , we will for sure come back to Melo Pomelo.
