How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautiful property in a very peaceful and tranquil location with wonderful staff. Food was excellent and we had three days of peaceful downtime. Also wonderful being so close to nature.
We arrived at a time when it was very hot and humid and the property has no air-conditioning which is in line with its environmental credentials. However, this did make out stay somewhat restless in the evenings. Also the only Wi-Fi is in reception which is a blessing and a burden.

Verified reviewWe stayed in the lodge as a belated birthday present for my boyfriend and the staff went above and beyond. They baked and decorated him a cake and even brought out the elephants so he could feed them fruit and elephant sandwiches. This place will be a special place in my heart because as a double surprise, my boyfriend actually proposed to me on the first night during the elephant sundowners and it was incredible. We had the place to ourselves and Sam our tour guide looked after us so well and helped create magical memories. The food is amazing and tastes so lovely and all the staff are very friendly and polite. They let us stay late in their main hub to use their Wi-Fi to call back home to tell them our engagement news until the late hours. My fiancée particularly liked the hammocks and chilling by the pool to top off the stay.
We went on a jeep safari which was very good but seriously expensive, it was $135 each for just a half a day and I’ve been on a few safaris before this was ridiculously expensive- the safari is no different to others where I have paid much cheaper for a full day and it included lunch so this was a rip off. Although the elephants are treated well, when you visit them to make elephant sandwiches and say hello, you can see that they are kept in small spaces and this was hard too see as I love elephants which is why we picked this lodge as we were against the elephant trekking!

Verified reviewEverything, perfect location with every opportunity to do just what we wanted re. safaris. All the staff, in whatever area they were involved in, were excellent. The food was outstanding and their elephant camp is certainly worth visiting as well. We would not hesitate in recommending this wonderful place.

Verified reviewWe initially booked a tent but because the lodge was so quiet we got upgraded to a very nice room instead. The staff are wonderful and friendly and the guides are very knowledgeable. Being so close to elephants is a once in a lifetime experience and you get very close! there are complimentary activities included like kuchi making and feeding and also walking with the mahouts to cut and collect grass - these were our favourite activities along with the jeep safari where we saw a tonne of rhinos, birds and monkeys.
The website makes the elephant camp sound like it will be outside your window (spoiler - its not! its just a short walk down the road) The food is very...well...ho hum. Its not bad, its just western food and i wish it wasn't. Nepali food is delicious and I think the offerings could have been a lot more diverse. The lodge is on the expensive side but hey, when are you ever gonna hang out with with 8 elephants that close?

Verified reviewBeautiful setting and amazing experience in the Chitwan. Very hospitable team. The safari tents are super comfortable and great outdoor shower!
Perhaps that the activities were on top of room rate but it all goes towards supporting the elephants so it's all good.

Verified reviewThe food and the service was great!!! There was one set menu per meal, and it was very tasty food. We also really enjoyed meeting the other people staying at the lodge.
We booked the tent - and were very excited about that- and arrived to find out we had to stay in a main room, which was pretty boring of a space and had black mold on the ceiling. One of our neighbors had a rat living in their room. We also chose this lodge because we thought it reflected responsible travel…that the elephants roam free (they do not, they have handlers that include utilizing sticks and chains around the elephant’s necks- even during “jungle walk”) and social responsible practices are used. A few things really bothered me with this last part- for example, the same staff who served breakfast at 6:30 -8 am, also served lunch 11-2, and dinner 7-9…and they’d be around before and afterwards….so it made me wonder what time they have off. They also had two white women as staff there - they had the Nepalese staff wait on them like they were guests and these staff did not have to wear a uniform like the Nepalese staff. I’ve worked in other countries where there were foreign and local staff, and this is definitely not an equitable practice. I guess this was particularly bothersome because of how kind, warm, generous and welcoming the Nepalese staff were - and in contrast to how rude, unprofessional these two other women were. I think it also bothered me enough to write this in a summary, because I was REALLY looking forward to this stay and to see the practices they market in play. Especially for the money it costs. One of the things that drew me to this location over other higher priced locations (that likely had much more luxurious accommodations), was the lodge’s involvement with the community….but as far as I could see while there- there wasn’t much of that. The lodge did all of the tours. There were no community walks or cultural shows (as did other lodges - which usually is another way of including communities in benefiting from tourist money). All of the tours were through the lodge and very set. After 1.5 days, we had done 3 out of 4 activities.
