How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewYou must stay here! Everything about it is exceptional. The people, the food, and the rooms are absolutely wonderful. You can get as involved with activities as you like. I was able to learn about Nepali cooking, milk a water buffalo, go on village walks, and swim in a beautiful river. This was the best part of my trip. Kabi and his family are truly wonderful people.

Verified reviewThis experience was so beautiful. You can get involved in their daily activities, such as cooking, working on the rice fields, and feeding the animals, or have time for yourself. The people in the village are amazing; some of them speak good English, but with others, words are not even necessary. The rooms with private bathrooms are next level, they have put a lot of effort into making them comfortable.

Verified reviewThis is a must go if you are in Pokhara. This stay and community is the most wonderful you can find in the area. They whole community makes you feel safe, special, importent, included and make sure your stay will be amazing. A place you want to come back to and place you dont want to leave. Their beautiful project included the whole community in the most amazing way. The food was wonderful and made from their own garden. Staying at the Homestay was a natural way of understanding the culture and the nepal peoples way of life. There are no words to describe the kindness and genuinity of this community.

Verified reviewThis homestay is the most unique and warm experience we had in Nepal. Barang village is easy to get to as it is just a short drive outside of Pokhara. Even though we went in the low season, we got to experience life in the village with this lovely family by helping with chores around the house, visiting the local school, and visiting the nearby waterfall for a swim. Amma's food is delicious and healthy -- we enjoyed learning how to cook Nepalese traditional dishes from her! The rooms are incredibly beautiful and comfortable, with a lovely view. If you want to experience authentic Nepalese culture, this is a must visit!

Verified reviewThe family is so warm and welcoming. Do not hesitate to book a stay. I originally booked for 2 nights and ended up staying 5. I wish I could have stayed more. They make you feel like part of the family. You work, explore, cook, eat, and play games just like you would with your own family. They are so accommodating, thoughtful, and kind. Do not walk, run to this village. You will not be disappointed. The experience I had will live with me forever. Everything is taken care of, you just need to show up.
Nothing at all.

Verified reviewI think experiencing Nepal is defined in two main areas. The culture and the Himalayas. I don't think anybody can find a better spot to have such a warm and amazing experience with cooking, farming and exploring the village next to this family. The most kind human beings I ever saw who touched my heart deeply and reminded me of that kindness still exists out there❤❣️ I have so much love, support and respect for this awsome family. Thank to them for having me The property is amazingly clean and comfortable with legit view out of rooms. Everyday you experience Ama's home food and you can also cook with her. The food is awsome and everything feels like home. I had the biggest pleasure to spend time with my dear Asmitha. Such a powerful and inspiring woman. We shared a lot of words and she showed around the village to me with the most patient and care. They all definitely left a huge love mark in my heart. ❤ You will have the best stay experience in nepal with them...

This welcoming family's home is surrounded by nature, the food is 100% fresh and delicious, and it's very peaceful. You can do short hikes, walk to the waterfall, swim in the natural pools, or just chill on the terrace with a great view. Oh, super comfortable beds!

Verified reviewOur stay with Kabi and Durga’s family, along with the entire community, was an unforgettable experience. From the beginning, they were kind and friendly. Early communications with Durga were clear and she was able to provide all of the information we needed to make our decision to stay with the community in Barang. We were given a clean and tidy room with two single beds and a private bathroom that provide both hot and cold water. The beds were comfortable and there was a balcony that looked out into the valley towards the lakeside town centre. All of our meals were delicious and made from locally grown produce (95% of each meal was made with food that the community itself plants and grows, no meat of course). You can really taste the natural flavours in the food and it was some of the best traditional food that we have had in Nepal. Tea was served all day, if you wanted it. As for the experience of living there for multiple days, there are activities and jobs available to you should you seek it out. We learned how to keep the corn crops from getting knocked down by the wind and we also took a 45 minute walk to a nearby waterfall where we were able to enjoy a swim in one of the naturally formed pools. The people in the community come together to give visitors a taste of local celebrations and customs, dressing women in sari, showing you how to build small bowls out of leaves foraged from the hills where the village sits, and inviting you to participate in fun, fast-paced dancing nights! The Barang Community Homestay can also be a quiet, peaceful, and restful place if you need to wind down as you may be in need of rest before or after a trek. The scenery is unbeatable with the Annapurna range in the distance where Machhapuchhare (Fishtail) dominates on a clear day. It is simply breathtaking, when you are sitting on the balcony enjoying a tea and conversation, to just look around you and notice the landscape and the massive Himalayan peaks.

Verified reviewStaying at Barang Community Village Homestay was one of the most meaningful travel experiences I’ve ever had. The views from the homestay are absolutely stunning—you can see Fishtail (Machhapuchhre) and the Annapurna range right from the house, and it truly takes your breath away. The family is so warm and welcoming. Amma, especially, feels like a second mom—caring, kind, and full of joy. The food she and the family prepared was amazing—fresh, local, and full of flavor. I even got to help cook some of the meals, which made it even more special. The rooms are clean, beautifully decorated with personal touches, and make you feel completely at home. During my stay, I joined walks through the village, visited a nearby waterfall, observed daily life, and was lucky enough to participate in a local festival. Every moment felt genuine and heartfelt. Barang isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience of community, culture, and connection. I left with a full heart and unforgettable memories. Highly, highly recommend! :)

Verified reviewMy son and I stayed 4 nights and enjoyed all of it - the family were lovely and welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel at home, show us the village and surrounding area, help us learn about their culture and fed us absolute loads of delicious food (and help cook it) - all with a smile and humour. Everyone in the village was very friendly and open to share their lives with us. The room was really comfortable. We really loved our time here and would highly recommend it.
We liked it all!

Verified reviewThe family - Amma, Baba, Kriss, Kabi, Tara & Osmita - were the most welcoming and kind family. You become a part of the family and their daily routines and rituals. Could not recommend the stay more. If you love nature, culture, dal bat and beautiful views then definitely go and visit. Particular thank you to Kriss for being a very kind and patient guide and translator, you made the experience so enjoyable! You are staying in their home in their comfortably renovated bedrooms downstairs. It’s the parents house where their elder son has started this homestay business for his parents. It’s incredibly authentic and wonderful. A must for everyone in Nepal.

Verified reviewWe had an amazing time with the family — one of the best experiences we had in Nepal. The family was very sweet and warmly welcomed us. We had the chance to walk around the village and get a glimpse into everyday life. They have both small and large animals. We cooked together with Aama, who showed us every step of the process and let us try it ourselves. We also tried on traditional Nepali dresses and took some beautiful photos. The beds were comfortable, and the room was clean. The food oh the foood.... just amazing and huge portions - you will definitely not stay hungry.

Verified reviewThe room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The host family was incredibly attentive and kind, always offering advice about different areas to explore and serving delicious food and tea. There was a yoga mat that I was able to use for my morning practice and there is a big table on the second level, suitable for working. It’s a tiny village so there are no cafes, restaurants, or shops, but that’s the point… it’s a perfect place to embrace nature and detach from the material world. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic experience in the hills of Nepal.
