How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Very nice breakfast, tasty food and kind and professional staff in the restaurant (especially Sonya and Laxmi). Rooms were kept very clean, and a good amount of water was provided. Nice rooftop restaurant with splendid view, good food and pleasant live music.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming continuing to check in with us during out entire stay. The location was perfect offering lots of restaurants. The breakfast and staff in the restaurant were wonderful with a variety of delicious breakfast options. We were very pleased overall with this excellent hotel!

The shampoo and shower gel comes in small bottles. It was hard to manage and insufficient.
Clean, comfortable and location is central to the places that I was visiting.

Cool for breakfast great choice but found everything a bit confused - no one took your room number so we could have got breakfast free without paying for it - but we did pay. So many staff around but no one wanted to take our order.

They asked me to pay first at entry councel. it's cheap, they said as I am from boking .com, so I have to pay first. as if I am a non credible thief. it was 100 USD booking,which in advertising said it includes breakfast. and also did not give me breakfast as committed in the booking advertisement.

I liked most of it. There is nothing I can point out as bad at Vivanta Kathmandu.
Excellent breakfast spread. Quality of various food items was optimal. Specific item were also available on order. Ambiance of the dining Hall was great. Overall, we enjoyed the breakfast at Vivanta Kathmandu.

Tariff could be a bit lower
Excellent rooms. Very friendly and warm staff. Good food. Clean premises. Exceeded expectations overall. Had a great stay with wife and two kids. Would like to go back there again.

it was a little confusing on check in. we requested early check in but when we arrived they didnt have this request so we had to wait a couple of hours. then the staff were trying to get us to upgrade our rooms which i didnt like since each upgrade would have been an additional $40 per night per room. also, the breakfast wasnt great (some things were stale, coffee machine wasnt functioning well so we had to wait on coffee from elsewhere in the hotel and it took a while. I ordered eggs 2 different days and they took so long i had to leave before getting them).
the hotel was great and staff were great! the bed was very comfy and hotel was really clean. the meals we had at the restaurant and bar were great - all types of food there are good! also, there was a confusion with our bill and as an apology, the manager kindly gave us a free airport shuttle which was really appreciated. they also allowed us to use the spa shower facilities after checking out before our late flight.

Room could have been a little cleaner. Workout room needs to be cooler.
Staff is always so friendly and welcoming. Worked with me to make adjustments for travel schedule. Location is in a nice neighborhood, close to shops and restaurants. Rooftop restaurant is lovely after a long day. Breakfast offerings. Rooms are comfortable.

I was very happy with my stay. Staff was very friendly, and went above and beyond to help me out, especially when I left my phone in a taxi. The room was very comfortable, and I loved the roof top terrace.

Excellent hospitality ! The reception staff , the chefs , tour driver , all very helpful in their own ways . Everything was taken care of very well . The spa was fantastic too .
