All pretty good. The Amex reminder 2 or 3 days earlier had the wrong key code so we were lucky that Paul was there. He had sent the correct code a week before but I only checked the most recent communication assuming that it would the correct one

The weather was not great but still managed to get a surf in every day and sometimes twice a day. Brilliant surf beach!

We loved the proximity and easy access to the beach. The ability to self cater was great and it had all we needed in the kitchen to sort our meals while we were there. It was close to shops where we could buy food as well as a surf shop where we hired boards for a reasonable price. Our host Suzee was so welcoming and helpful! The house was comfortable, warm and full of light which was so nice considering the weather was not great. There was so much to do over our 3 day stay and hopefully we get back the sometime soon!

Nothing to do with the property as such, but beware the sandflies on the beach…. They are voracious and any bites take weeks to go.

The property is a one-off, set back from the main new Plymouth town In oakura. It meant that we could relax on a small town with views over the beach. The owners were very attentive, but left us with privacy after the initial introductions. The property is clean, decorated in a home away from home way that makes it very comfortable.

A couple of minor things, like a better chopping board would be good.

The location was amazing. Such a great choice to stay outside of New Plymouth and wake up to the quiet and the beach every morning. Being on the second level looking out on the beach was like being in a treehouse or lookout. Two large bedrooms, own kitchen facilities, separate toilet, shower and a bath (yay!), plus large lounge/dining to spread out, Netflix was a hit especially because it rained a lot. Access to the beach from house (wear jandals though, because there is prickles in the campground you cut through to the beach). Great conversation and advice from the hosts. A real home away from home. Would 100% stay here again.

To be very critical the living room drapes are a bit dark and dated and the bedroom linen a tad tired.

We were a family of 4. But the bedrooms setup (2 large beds) is better suited for 2 couples. Not really 2 teenagers, brother and sister…However the problem was solved with a trundle bed placed in the lounge.
