The bed and facilities were very clean, comfortable and private. The location was great, close to town and had a beautiful view of the morning sunrise. Paul and his wife were friendly, respectful and helpful. The included breakfast was simple and supplies abundant. Room for us to store our bikes and water gear. We felt very at home and safe.

It was clean

When we arrived there was no one on the property , we waited 30 min for the owner so we could enter. And you can heard a lot of noise from the floor above

We arrived at the scheduled check-in time, but there was no one to greet us, nor was there a note with information about our rental. As a result, we wasted hours trying to figure out which room we would be staying in or if we were in the right house. The photo on Booking.com shows a yellow house with a pool. However, this is at the back of the house and we had no way of confirming whether or not we were in the right place. We sent messages via email but received no response. Unsure if anyone would show up, we went looking for another place to sleep. We decided to go back to the house later to see if there was anyone there or if we could get a refund. We were very poorly received by the owner, who showed us around the place, which was very dark and had musty smelling rooms and a breakfast area with no windows. He opened the refrigerator and said that we could get breakfast there. We tried to explain that since there was no one there, we needed to find another place, but he was intransigent and said that he would not negotiate any form of refund. We did not stay there because there is nothing worse than staying in a place where you are not well received. We found an excellent place for a lower price than this one on the other side of the lake, close to the restaurants. We will file a complaint with Booking to try to get back what we lost. If anyone wanted to stay in Kaitetere, I recommend the Water Front Apartments, they were very kind and attentive to you.

Abel Tasman Kaiteriteri B&B is in a great spot — just a short walk from the beach and ideal for a brief stop while exploring the area. The room and bed were comfy, and we really appreciated being able to check in late after a long day of travel. Breakfast was self-serve and fine, though not exceptional. Just a heads-up: there’s no shared kitchen or living area for guests to relax in, so it’s best suited if you’re simply looking for a place to sleep. Overall, a convenient and pleasant stay in a beautiful location.

I felt it was a bit overpriced compared to other nearby options that offer more facilities.

Excellent location 2 minutes walk to main town and beach. Paul the host is extremely welcoming and friendly. Private bathroom per room and breakfast food available as well which was great.

The room was small and in a basement. The walls were thin and the room was sparse and small. The bathroom was clean and nice (across the hall). Overall disappointing for the cost. No real ambiance.
