Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe house is just a house. If you are accustomed to B&Bs located in cottages or manors with character or interesting history, that's not this place. It's just a place to stay, but it's situated on a nice piece of property surrounded by farmland with easy access to the town.
Clean, comfortable and super nice proprietors.

NetherlandsJust a tip: maybe the room can be a bit more sound proof.
The place felt very luxurious. Everything was of high quality. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Bathroom was also nice. Jeff is an amazing, friendly host. We loved talking to him in the kitchen when he made breakfast. The to-go breakfast provided the other day was also very good and generous. And Eddie and Frenkie where lovely as well!

We loved everything about our stay at Alpine Rock. Jeff and Jan looked after us as if we were family - they packed us a big breakfast for our early morning trip to Milford Sound, and Jeff gave us a beer to go with our takeaway pizza on our return! It was such a lovely homely atmosphere. Highly recommended

United StatesWe had a wonderful stay at the Alpine Rock B&B in Te Anau and would highly recommend it. The rooms were exactly as described and extremely clean! Each room has a small fridge with a small freezer (fit two freezer packs). The bed was very comfy and included both softer and harder pillows, as well as an extra blanket and a heated mattress pad, which would be awesome in colder weather. We stayed in the Wisteria room, which has a private bathroom (not ensuite) across the hall--it's actually a separate toilet room, and then a room with a shower, a soaking tub (bath salts provided) and a sink. The Rose suite has an ensuite bathroom. Jeff's breakfasts were delicious! He made homemade yogurt and fresh croissants each morning, as well as providing various fresh fruit, two types of granola, juice & water, tea and coffee, jams and butter. SO yummy! Jan and Jeff met us when we arrived and showed us around. They were available if we had questions, but otherwise, gave us our privacy. They were great at recommending restaurants and Jeff even rinsed our rental car when we asked if there was a car wash in town--talk about "going above and beyond". The location was great for trips to Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Lord of the Rings filming locations, or hiking & walking. We would highly recommend Alpine Rock B&B!

SpainSome minor internet connection issues that they are already aware of, by no means this was any problem for us.
Alpine Rock is a cozy and quiet house surrounded in nature, just a 5-minute drive from Te Anau. While Jeff and Jan were excellent hosts, and we truly enjoyed meeting them, Eddie stole the show as the best host, making sure we could pet him to our hearts’ content. Breakfast was exceptional—healthy, delicious, and served right on schedule. Our stay at Alpine Rock was heartwarming, and we’ll definitely return if we are ever in Te Anau again.

United StatesWhile a little bit outside of the nearby town, it was close enough to be very convenient to restaurants & shops, while being far enough away to be quiet and in a beautiful, natural setting. Jeff and Jan were so welcoming, helpful and accommodating. The room and shared areas were comfortable and inviting, the hot tub was a huge plus! We had freshly baked croissants every morning as part of a simple, yet delicious continental breakfast.

United KingdomJeff and Jan were superb hosts. We loved the attention to detail and quality that they put into their place. They obviously love it very much and that shows! We especially enjoyed sitting on the veranda, taking in the stunning views, enjoying the tea and cake, and the great company of Jeff (and Eddie and Frankie the dog and cat!) 10/10 would recommend! EstoniaNice and quiet place outside the city. Very fancy place close to the nature and animals. Neighbors has horses! I loved the privacy and really nice rooms with fireplace, hot hot tub, great coffee, family cat and dog and off course Jan & Jeff, was so so lovely that after 4 nights there I felt as I was leaving from my parents hose. I have been traveled a lot, but this house vibe and the people there was something different. Something for me to feel like I was at home.
