Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

This place is an absolute gem! It is unbelievably comfortable. And The host, Grant, could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The location is amazing. A close walk to an amazing beach. And super close to restaurants and markets. We loved this apartment. It is one of the nicest places we stayed during our 3+ week in New Zealand.

As soon as I arrive I knew my stay was going to be a good one. The accomodation was warm and welcoming as soon as you opened the door. You had everything right there. The breakfast supplies were top notch.

My partner and I stayed one night for a wedding. The hosts were welcoming and extremely accommodating. The place was clean, homely and had everything you needed. The hosts provided breakfast food with multiple options, along with tea/coffee/milk. The location is great, just a short walk to the beach and nearby restaurants. I would happily stay here again!

Breakfast was an added bonus. We enjoyed the fruit on arrival, had a good hearty breakfast which lasted us well on our travels that day so we didn’t have to stop for morning tea. Jane was a lovely host, checking in with us to see all was ok, made sure we knew where the best restaurants were for dinner. Didn’t really know what to expect when booking and found Bar Harbor to be a little hidden treasure. Much nicer than staying in a motel. Also enjoyed a drink in the rustic little private courtyard on arrival.

The weather was not kind but we felt cozy and comfortable while the wind blew and the rain poured. Sheltered wee spot, quiet and close to food and shopping.

Everything was up to, or exceeded, expectations.
We got a text in advance asking us what we would like for breakfast, and a very good selection was provided. The location turned out to be really good (not knowing the area) as it was very handy to a cafe, a grocery store and several restaurants, as wll as being just a block from the beach.

Proximity to the beach is brilliant.
The decor was modern and the space was relaxing. The private outdoor space was welcomed as it also allowed us to keep the door open ajar for extra fresh air overnight and we felt safe to do this. The continental breakfast was great, fresh and plentiful.

Great location. The accommodation was so nicely present. New and very clean. Welcoming to walk into, and the breakfast was a bonus (Bread, cereal, fresh fruit, butter, spreads, milk, tea, coffee, and chocolate biscuits). They even let us park our large American car in their carport. So thoughtful. Thanks for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

My partner and I went to stay in and had dinner on the same night. I did not know that it was an option for the food to be delivered to your apartment which is a good option by the way! Instead, we decided to eat in at the beer gardens as the atmosphere and ambiance was great. Furthermore, it was a hot day and good thing our room has an air-con which made our stay a bit more comfier.

Beautiful decor..... arrived to fan going on a stinking hot day which was very inviting and the air conditioning unit was handy too. Well stocked breaky/ coffee station. Owners very welcoming and great at communication. Happy to visit again.
