Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Carpark was a very tight fit

The building is squeezed tightly between others, so there is no room for a garden. But for a short stay this was not important to us.
Comfortable apartment. Living room with kitchen, bedroom, bathroom. Fully equipped. New appliances. Very clean. Comfortable large bed. Elegant comfortable bathroom. There was a washing machine and dishwasher.

A very comfortable, homely, clean, modern apartment in Motueka. Easy to check-in and check-out, helpful and friendly hosts. Bed was really comfortable. Nice homely touches like providing milk and homemade muesli.

Maybe look at other pillow options, e.g. memory foam as opposed to feathers

Nothing! It’s a pity we had to move on.
Exceptionally well apportioned. We wanted for nothing. Jan had certainly applied a woman’s touch to the apartment which was spotlessly clean. The sitting out area was comfortable which we made use of whilst using the BBQ. Set in a quiet suburban location yet only a 5 minute walk into the centre of Motueka. Quiet and peaceful at all times.

Car park was quite small for our larger ute style vehicle.
Great location. Well equipped. Comfortable bedding and linen. Everything you needed with lovely cosmetics provided. Supplies for cookery and muesli provided. Coffee machine with nesspreso pods. A very comfortable place. Information about local attractions and eateries. We loved our stay.

For our ute the parking was a bit tight.
The unit had so many carefully thought out extra features like a pack of cards, shopping bags, homemade muesli, chocolate biscuits, washing powder and pegs and lots of tea and coffee. Lovely private outdoor area.

Parking tight with our large vehicle however not a big issue. We managed ok.
Great location. A good size kitchen/living area with seperate bedroom and a large bathroom. Everything in the apartment needed for a home away from home. Heated quickly on chilly days.

This was our favorite stay so far on our trip! Fantastic shower, clean and tidy space, laundry, and everything you need. The location is great — you can walk to restaurants and it’s only a 20 min drive to the water taxis in Abel Tasman National Park. We wished we could have stayed here the whole trip!

The unit was really lovely and the hosts have thought of some extra little details to make our stay fabulous, i.e. lovely hand and body creams, good quality body wash and shampoo etc. The bed was really comfortable with nice bed linen.

The apartment was clean and tidy and close to town - beyond our expectations. The bed was unbelievably comfortable my 10 hours uninterrupted sleep is proof of that. Highly recommended.

Do not hesitate to book- this place was like home. My husband and I stayed here for two nights and could have stayed longer. Jan was an excellent host and the place was so very homey. It felt completely private and was totally stocked. We enjoyed our own outdoor table for meals, and the place is so quiet and peaceful it really feels like an oasis. Jan has put very thoughtful touches, including homemade muesli and milk in the fridge for coffee.
