How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Shower I'm a short person (Lol) and it the shower head you cannot adjust.
Where our room was situated. Very accommodating. Room was clean and the convenience of where the hotel is was perfect.

The staff here are amazing, they all smile and look genuinely happy. We were able to keep booking a room as we were there for a family emergency, but weren't sure how long we'd be there. They're very accommodating and did an amazing job helping us in every way they possibly could. The rooms are comfortable and quite spacious and suited us very well with 4 children. Thoroughly enjoyed that there was no lagging with the internet connection.

Clean, tidy & very welcoming. Jan was an exceptional host. Our kids enjoyed the pool & the spa was beautiful. Location was awesome as well - close to the hospital which was our main purpose. Kids enjoyed it & so did we. Will be back again if ever in Whangarei. Good value for money.

Nothing not to like, everything exceeded our expectations.
We absolutely loved our stay at Cheviot, comfortable beds accomodated for all our travellers and cleaniless of the room was emaculate. A bonus for us that we loved was having an accessible parking right next to our room which made unpacking and packing a breeze and felt our vehicle was in a safe and secluded space.

The driveway was a little steep, but no biggie.

Excellent facilities. Everything was immaculately clean, and the rooms were spacious. Well-equipped kitchen. Quiet location. Great parking and welcoming staff. The swimming pool is not huge, but still welcome on a hot day :-)

Convenient, handy to town and being on Western Hills Drive allows a speedy getaway. We stayed in unit 15, so far from traffic noise. Comfortable beds, roomy, has everything you need. Jan is always friendly and delightful. I love staying here when I'm going through Whangarei.

Was hard to get the kids to sleep during the loud conversations from the ladies right next door in the laundry. Found a dirty sock behind the tv cabinet thingy.
The staff was so friendly and efficient and the pool was good for the kids.

Upon arrival immediately, my family and I were welcomed with a warm smile and polite conversation ☺️ Clear information was explained, such as car parking and pool area. We set the table up for dinner but unfortunately the placemats had been overlooked dry food stains all over them. The traffic from the main road can be quite noisey at times.
The owner was very nice and welcoming and let us check in quite early which was great. The unit was very clean and well equipped. Close to town, Great having air conditioning as the temperature was very warm, The pool was great just what we needed on those very warm days
