Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandProbably signage for the property could be considered. Instructions are given when booking, but whilst I had no major issues finding the place, it could be a little confusing.
Excellent value for money, great location. Suited me well for a short stay, with excellent convenient public transport links to the city.

New ZealandAll was good.
Michael was very helpful carrying my suitcase as I am on crutches and there were a few stairs to climb. The bed was super comfortable. No traffic noise which was great, considering the location of Citirooms. Very tidy and clean shared bathroom and kitchen. Parking available on site however the entry drive although short, is very narrow and would not suit large wide vehicles. My Nissan Note was fine with wing mirrors folded down. The location of Citirooms in Grey Lynn was perfect for my requirements. Very cosy for a romantic stay and excellent value for money.

The property is managed clean and has an excellent location as it provides everything you may need for a short stay, including food, cafe, laundry, shops, pharma, etc. The bus stop is located just at the property, which gives streamless access to the CBD. Michael (who I think is the owner of the property) is really supportive, flexible and friendly.

New ZealandThe walls were very thin. I could hear the couple next door having sex, then snoring, like they were in the room with me. The place is like a hostel, not a hotel, with only one bathroom with no separate toilet between 4 rooms, so potentially 8 people. Everything felt a bit old and tired.
The host was really kind and let me check in early. The location was great.

I recently stayed at CityRooms Auckland and had a fantastic experience! The rooms were cozy and clean, with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The host was friendly and helpful, and the rates were unbeatable. I loved the vibe of the place - it felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend CityRooms Auckland to anyone looking for a convenient and affordable place to stay in Auckland!

ItalyThe bed was too soft and the room was freezing cold. Even though it was winter the windows were left open, but the small heater wasn’t strong enough to heat up the room…

New ZealandPerplexing would be the best word to describe this place. The name insinuates a hotel; the photos indicated a hostel/AirBnB. What it is is a house down a frankly nerve-wracking alley by a yet more nerve-wracking carpark, entrance stuffed with storage items, living room filled with an unsettling collection of teapots. There are four bedrooms, although ours was minuscule and had been made by cutting a reasonable-sized bedroom in half. The bedroom door only stayed shut when locked, and leaked light not just around the edge but between the panels. One of the hooks on the wall for hanging clothes was beginning to rip out of the drywall. The fire escape was a panel in the wall with a sign advising us to kick it out in the event of a fire. This was on the second floor, so I'm genuinely interested to know if there was a set of stairs on the other side, or if we were expected to plummet. They forgot to provide towels, but there was what appeared to be a tea towel on the bathroom floor for a bath mat. The walls were paper-thin, so there was no privacy. The bed was actually very comfortable, although a few inches shorter than my husband, who's under six feet. The weirdest thing was the driveway leading to the free off-road parking. It was a little steep alley between two shops and our van could not physically fit down it. We had to park on the road (which was fine). As a single female traveller I would have found this place disconcerting as hell. Having a husband with me, I risked it, and the door was not kicked down in the night by a mysterious teapot-wielding assassin, so I guess it worked out.
The owner was communicative and helpful, and let us check in at the antisocial hour of 9:30. The price was very good, which is why we chose it in the first place. The location was decently central to the city. If you like decorative teapots, there were a plethora. The shower was OK and the sink was distinctly ample.

I stayed here for a music festival and the location is near the venue at Western Springs. This place is an ideal choice for you if you plan to explore such as K (Karangahape) road and the zoo in the Grey Lynn area. Michael is a lovely host and easy to talk to. CitiRooms is like a cozy Airbnb and you may meet other travelers.
