Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandJust the fact that it is next to the main road north makes it a bit noisy. No offer of late check-out. Notice on wall saying a charge of $25 for each 15 minutes after 10am.
Right on the seafront with lovely view. Availability of accessible unit for disabled. Only minutes to town but seemed like miles out in the country. Great beds & linen.

New ZealandWhere do I start with this place! 🤔 The stairs going up is very loose & squeaky, I don't feel it's safe. We had room 14 their were alot of black bugs around the outside of the room and some in side the sink (kitchen) & theirs No Aircon! Just a noisy ceiling fan that sounds like a ticking clock! Their was a standard fan available but it was dusty and just blows the same warm air around the room. There were little notes around the kitchen and bathroom areas, the bathroom one was shocking! It's unprofessional to tell your guest to limit their shower time or even say to "stagger the time" by 20 min for the next person to shower because you only have a 40ltr cylinder🤦♀️ People pay $200 + per night, surely you can afford a bigger water cylinder, please remove this signage it's insulting! Paying guest don't need to know details, just upgrade it and fix the problem, switch to gas🤷♀️ The room has cobwebs hanging over the bed & in the bathroom. Attention to detail is needed when it comes to cleaning! The shower is way too small & the shower head needs upgrading to a modern version, the one you can remover or adjust the height, the shower pressure is also not great, very slow. Overall this place is okay for one night but not any longer unless they fix up the basics. I highly recommend Sunset Motel 2min up the road, they set the standard & more value for money & very clean, even better you actually get a water view!
Location wise is good, however the parking is not close to the room, especially if your staying up stairs. It's a shame the scopes of this place is beautiful but, it lacks the basics!

AustraliaOur first impression was marred by it having the previous guest's breakfast dishes in the sink when we checked in! (Slack cleaner maybe?) At check in you're asked to acknowledge house rules which include a total ban on cooking spicy foods, seafoods & curries in your room, & there's signage to same effect in the room. Mind you there was a lack of basic cooking equipment in the room so it was nigh on impossible to prepare anything! So sad to say we give it a zero score for kitchenette amenities as there wasn't even a kitchen knife so I was using my Swiss Army knife to chop an onion & parsley. My wife went to see Michelle asking for a knife & chopping board, which she supplied & apologies were given for mysterious lack of kitchenware. Following morning we were supplied a couple more cooking utensils which apparently should've been in our room but had been put in an adjacent room by other guests. Shouldn't staff have checked? Tried using the BBQ but no BBQ tools nor BBQ cleaning equipment & it was pretty dilapidated - broken lid handle. Windows at rear of room above bed needed a good hose down and clean to remove cobwebs etc
Coastal Motor Lodge Thames rates 100% for location location location, and Michelle gave us a classic friendly Kiwi welcome. It's an oldish property but our chalet 15 was spacious & comfy and had a great view . 100% for its gorgeous location & sunsets, and Michelle's bubbly nature.

CanadaThere is almost nowhere to eat nearby (except perhaps the fish bait store up the road). You have to drive downtown to find food if you are not a long-stay, taking advantage of the kitchen facilities in the room. Office hours are very limited, with a 7 pm arrival deadline.
The location is very nice, with a great view of the bay. The room was spacious, and we could park right outside our room. The room was comfortable.

New ZealandThe bed isn’t that comfortable, it would shake the whole bed when someone is heavier than you moving. No tissue or paper towel in cooking area. Overall, nice experience but abit expensive for the price.
Nice location, you can enjoy a dinner in deck while watching sunset and watch the stars through bed in night time. Love the nature aspect surrounding the lodge, really cute tiny house.
