Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThe shower is a bit of a hazard. No soap except for hand soap at the basin.
Although it was very cold the cottage heated up quickly with the heaters. The bedding was lovely and without an electric blanket we slept warm. Mountain view with snow was wonderful.

New ZealandNo Wi-Fi connection.
This was a nostalgic stay for us as this was my husbands Nannas house in the fifties and sixties and we were delighted to see the furnishings and decor were in keeping with its past and the large walnut tree was still there. We felt some information on the history of the cottage and local activities and places of interest would be beneficial.

GermanyIt’s been clean but we felt a deep cleansing and letting air flowing through more often would be recommended as there was a smell inside the cottage. Unfortunately we also realized that not all guest seem to leave the dish in clean state (also cleansing material needs change)
Very cute cottage near by the road with historical charm based as it has granny’s interior :-) A lot of space and all that is needed. Very nice a big garden behind the cottage.

New ZealandIt would be nice if Wi-Fi and shampoo and body wash were available, but it's understandable not to.
The house is clean and comfortable, suitable for a family.

AustraliaWe were a little disappointed to find there was no longer a washing machine, particularly when there is no laundromat in town. As we are travelling for an extended time from Australia, I had purposely booked accommodation where we could catch up on washing. Down to our last set of undies and socks. 🤣Perhaps if you are not planning to replace the washing machine it might be a good idea to update the listing information to avoid disappointing future guests.
As stated in the information on the website, the property does not offer mod cons. It is a traditional stone cottage with limited modern additions. That said, the property was clean, bed was comfortable with an electric blanket and warm quilts. The weather was quite cold during our stay but the rooms have free standing heaters which worked a treat making the rooms cosy. Excellent hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Cooking facilities were suitable for fixing our own meals. It’s probably worth mentioning there are a couple of steps between the rooms and a very high step to enter the shower. Not an issue for us but might be for anyone with mobility limitations. Thanks for the opportunity to stay in a traditional cottage.

New ZealandWe would love to have had the heaters on when we arrived. It was bitterly cold when we walked in. A few more glasses etc in the cupboard would have been great
We liked the history. It was very cosy once the heaters were put on. Very pretty cottage. The bed was warm and comfortable.

New ZealandIt was hot weather when we were there and several of the windows either didn't open enough or didn't open at all so it was hard to get it cool enough. It is right on the main road so traffic noise is loud in the front rooms but the back of the house is quiet
The house is old and fully of character. The plum tree in the back garden had the best plums I have ever had. The gardens were lovely. It was close to the river for nice walks and walking distance to town.
