Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

We missed having a kitchen table inside and some way to cook meals eg. an airfyer, having to rely on takeaway or restaurants.
It was in a great location close to the beach, city centre and restaurants. The apartment was very warm, cosy and clean with comfortable beds and a big bathroom and shower. The garden had a selection of plants including cyclamens and camellias and it was lovely to walk around.

The outdated microwave, the noise from owner upstairs. The smell from owners cooking and washing was strong. The private parking was not clear and not really private parking on a footpath
Beds were comfortable, spacious rooms , warm dry and nice bathroom, tv was big and couch was very comfortable, soft cozy carpets

A small table maybe to sit at for breakfast would have been great.

Nothing to dislike.
Comfortable, spotless, well appointed in a great location close to the beach and with restaurants in easy reach. The milk, fruit and treats were much appreciated. Would certainly stay again.

Host is upstairs and it is noisy downstairs as you can hear the music or movie which is annoying- my dad 95 couldn’t so that was fine. Also a rare hot day and we couldn’t find aircon controls and realized it is from upstairs only and not in the room we were in. We had our thermometer saying it was 29 degrees so very uncomfortable and finally got aircon turned on at 9.30pm! Normally I’m sure you wouldn’t need it…. We couldn’t open windows and doors as no screens and I got eaten by mozzies! But I shouldn’t have to try and find how to get aircon working and that was a pain as uncomfortable.
Lovely decor and close to the water not a beach but still lovely. Great provisions of fruit and breakfast supplies (basic) but kind and appreciated. Early checkin, Good space and bathroom.

A mirror in 2nd bedroom for hair and makeup.
Great location for walking to the beach, wharf areas and restaurants. Loved the large bathroom.

It's a very well setup place to stay, spacious and well-appointed with a great bathroom, and well located just back from the coast with a sea view, and very close to both Hawke's Bay Airport and the restaurants and takeaways of Ahuriri.

It was a lovely little apartment. Modern, clean, comfortable with great facilities. Near the ocean and felt private and safe. Comfy beds, nice big bathroom. Bedrooms were not next to each other. Food and refreshment supplies and personal touch with truffles and cookies.

Very spacious and comfortable unit. Loved that we were literally only a few steps to the beach front and the cycle/walking path and only a few more to the wetland cycle/walkway in the other direction. A terrific location.

Just a suggestion: the apartment was ideal for us as my husband has Parkinsons and uses a walker and it is spacious enough for him to use.. I suggested last time we stayed that a grab rail in the shower would be very helpful, but there wasn't one still this time. That small thing would make it perfect.

Very nice and modern apartment. Had everything that we needed. We were very grateful for the added Oreos, chocolate and candy canes that the children loved so much.

Very comfortable stay and with a lot of lovely detail inside and especially in the garden. Modern bathroom, carpet in the entire flat and comfortable beds. Location is nice quiet and very close to the ocean. Also nearby a very tasty fish and chips restaurant. The city center is only 7 minutes by car.
