Linen not cleaned, dust everywhere! One night I could sleep cause I saw one bug on my bed. My duvet cover was smelling. Showers horrible, kitchen messed!

The place was dirty, including the linens, kitchen, bathroom, nothing looked to be taken care of. We had a bedroom with balcony view and unfortunately we found out that the windows of the bathroom led directly to our balcony. I think that considering the low season and the standard of the place, they should rent it much cheaper than that.

To begin with, the room doors cannot be locked. I spent 4 nights there and at least two days the reception guy was gone (it's kind of ok as he left a note with a phone number you can call). Outside door is open during the day, so anyone could enter the hostel and any room. Secondly, most of people who stay there are long-terms. It means that they have a lot of stuff (huge backpacks, suitcases) which makes sense as they arrive to NZ for a year. But the rooms are simply too small! If you don't want anyone to touch your stuff, don't come here. Someone will touch it because there is not enough space in the room and your stuff will simply be on a way. If the rooms were possible to lock and if each room had one bunk removed, I'd give much higher score. However, there were a few more things. The smell in the room wasn't good. Also, if you aren't tall, you'll face a challenge to get onto top bunk as the first step is quite high. Also, no guard rails, so if you move a lot when you sleep you might fall. Lockers in the room are very small. And if you get a bottom one good luck reaching it as a lot of stuff blocks it. Common area is kinda okay but it's the same room as kitchen, so if you are sensitive to food smells, bear that in mind.

Let's say I liked the location but it wasn't great either. It's close to downtown but, for example, a normal supermarket is still very far away. But the location is the only thing that I didn't dislike.

I have reserved the 6th to spend the night and I could not spend even an hour in the place, I went to sleep in my car. The dirty place, rude, annoying and dirty people. I couldn't even bathe calmly since a person was yelling at me from outside to come in. the kitchen, full of smell the common area. people would come in and leave the door to the room open. in Booking it mentions that there is parking but it is NOT like that. Really if you can sleep somewhere else it would be better. I would never go back! a zero score. definitely the WORST hostel where I have been in my life.

The only good thing is the attention of the receptionists and the location
