Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Booking websites less helpful emails that didn’t make finding the address easy- At all. By some miracle discovered an email with the hosts contact number on, and even further miracle hosts answered at much less ideal time of night. Not sure if using the app is far more user friendly, but personally has personal tech issues to download the app in time for stay and found the emails less helpful than expected.
Love your space, and it served us well for the period. Appreciated the option to house two adults and two kids-infant and a toddler. Admittedly we did need a bit more bed space to sleep the two adults and toddler, but still worked a treat.

Nice couple owns the house and the studio room has a separate access, parking on site and peacefully neighborhood. They have an amazing selection of books and movies, my daughter was delighted!

Nothing. It was fabulous.
Great location, quiet and easy parking and access. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom and the little nook with the refreshments was most welcome.

Quiet, peaceful location. Friendly people.Good walk through park to beautiful beach.Comfortable bed and unit.Owners even helped us with laundry and gave us fresh grapefruit off their tree. Interesting garden and aviary. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Excellent value. Thank you.

I thought the pillows were too thin.

Having to leave Whangaparaoa....not for long!
Great location, quiet, lovely family hosting us in their house, whilst accommodation is private with independent access. Great off street parking, flat land and beautiful flora.

There is absolutely nothing not to like.
A great studio unit. It's part of the owners house, but you wouldn't know that. It's private, quiet, plenty of room, great bathroom. Has everything you need for a perfect stay. Great location, easy to find and a short walk to the beach.

Thought the washingachine was included. Had some stinky fishing clothes I would have liked washed, but we had to borrow the owners and didn't want to disturb.
Excellent spot, awesome hosts, clean, tidy and a great bed! Just what we needed after travelling a long way. We were towing a jetski and there was plenty of room. Thanks guys, great spot.

There is one bus that will take you nearby, but you do need to study the bus routes to get you out there.
The hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The house is near more than one beach and a Regional Park, great for walking and swimming and walking the shoreline.

The only light with a bulb in the bathroom was attached to a loud extractor fan.

My only suggestion would be to say the key was in a locked box attached to the tree in front garden. I believe the species of the tree was stated when booking and i didn’t know what it was.
The room and ensuite was spacious. The room is part of the family home but it has its own seperate entrance allowing the visitor to come and go at will. The walk-in-robe had been converted to a kitchenette holding fridge/freezer, toaster, microwave, crockery, selection of teas, coffee, bottle opener, cheese board and knife etc. Off street parking and free wifi. The mattress on the bed is sensational. It is in a beautiful location, close to beach, park and shops.
