Fab spot to stay overnight. I was expecting a very late check checkin and Philip was super supportive. I really appreciated him being there to greet me despite the hour. Breakfast just perfect… no lunch needed ! Large, clean and warm room. Didn’t have time for a bath but looked amazing.

Hospitality; rustic homely log cabin feel with fire place; honesty box approach to available alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks; home-made breakfast by the host with an abundance touch; privacy respected and spacious rooms with very comfortable bed; tasteful furnishing with a ‘play station’ of board and card games to occupy on cold wet winter nights. This would always be our preferred stay in Murchison. Can’t wait to be back Philip and Daphne!

No towel warmers, no electric blankets

From the welcome we received until our departure we were treated so well by the owner, Philip. The accommodation was easily the best we experienced in our 2 week tour around NZ. He has thought of everything possible to make his guests stay more enjoyable. A great breakfast was included too. The room was very comfortable and well equipped and the location is very handy, being only a short walk into town.

    Nothing at all.

The host was Philip was terrific. Nothing was a problem. He made us feel very comfortable, lit the fire in the evening and left us to relax in front of it with friends. In the morning we woke to the smell of bacon and eggs and fresh baked bread straight from the oven. He even gave us 2 loaves to take on our journey. Thank you so much Philip for a wonderful start to our holiday.

This was a wonderful place to stay in every way. Philippe was an excellent host and makes an amazing breakfast (enjoy the homemade bread and jams). The family run Lodge is situated beautifully in the countryside and you are able to explore down to the river. The rooms were super comfortable and the bath enormous. Communal areas with library and board games , and a nice selection of wines and spirits if you choose to stay in. Close by there are 3 restaurants for dinner. I recommend staying here, it was a shame we only had one night.

Phillip was a gentleman and a friend for life! He made us feel welcome on our arrival and until we checked out. The brownies on arrival were delicious and so was the breakfast. Location was spectacular and the room was spotless. Really enjoyed the chats over breakfast and received coffee as and when we needed it. Will definitely be re visiting if we pass again. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Amazing quiet place, comfy bed, great home cooked breakfast. If your after a nice quiet stay away from everything, this is the place, an alpine style property nestled in the woods - beautiful

A 15 min walk into town, was ok for us but not many places to eat

We have had a wonderful stay at the Murchison Lodge Such a nice warm Welkom Philip made us feel directly at home , this wooden house have a soft smelling of red cedar wood The bedroom the Tui, was very comfortable good bed and sheets nice shower and products to use my hair was very shiny after washing it Philip gave us lots of information for example where we can eat , he recommended the cow shed and it was very good. We have our meal with the other couple that stay also at Murchison lodge and have a great time and good food. When we came back Philip made us a fire and together we have a nice whisky as a nightcap on the comfortable couches. You can also use the kitchen to cook an evening meal and the grocery is nearby in the village. You can use everything in the house and order a list for what kind of breakfast you wanted and what time. The hospitality is high standard and the breakfast was really good with homemade things a fresh eggs from their one chicken’s. Nice little cat round the house and I liked the garden enjoy a coffee under the Lemontree. You can walk easily to the riverside and see the sun going under. It’s really a heavenly place to be special the taking care of Philip we felt comfortable and like home. So thank you very much Philip and Daphne. Ria and Kees from the Netherlands

The guest rooms are in a separate building with a big lounge area and kitchen at your disposal. Lovely breakfast options, great welcome, generous and friendly host. Easy walk into town for a meal. Cute little walk from the property to a lookout with seating over the river. Beautifully appointed room.

The lodge was in a rural setting away from passing traffic. Our room with balcony overlooked a small paddock with grazing sheep and was very spacious and comfortable. Our host Phillip made us a delicious breakfast including Jams from home grown berries and great home made bread. Phillip was great to chat to and has had an interesting life, and has become a valued volunteer in Murchison. We enjoyed a lamb roast from the only local pub which was well cooked and accompanied by five different vegetables which you crave when travelling.

There was nothing to not like.
