Welcomed by Isabel shortly after self check-in. Loved the lambs in the neighbouring paddock. Host provided some cereals, bread, milk, spreads, etc basics which was so helpful arriving with kids as it meant it was easy to get them some breakfast before heading into town for the day. Lovely self catering BnB and really great for a family, as it has a kitchen, bathroom, laundry room which is often essential when traveling with kids. We found it warm and cosy with great heating options in the main living areas (heat pump can heat the whole house) and bedrooms (wall panel heaters) and a heater in the bathroom as well.

After a 7-hour drive from Whangarei, going straight to Te Matatini for an entire day of beautiful madness, we checked in to On Tate. What a beautiful, homely little place surrounded by peace 10 minutes out of New Plymouth. We were able to come back and shower and get 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Thank you to the host whom we didn't see but allowed us to enjoy their beautiful accommodation.

I liked everything about the property but probably would suggest a security door/ sliding door( security mesh) to leave opened during the summer nights.

Was a nice little home that reminded me of my home. I loved the farm surrounding, made it feel you were away from the hustle and bustle. It was nice to see that the owners of the property were only a few steps away, but they kept to themselves and were really hospitable.

Mix communication about check out time. Booking.com app said 9 - 9.30 but at location the book said 9.30 (I think) and the board said 10. No or limited comms about the other part of the house which I assume is a seperate area for booking.

Nice large space. Easy to access. Lock box so didn't need to interact with anyone. Rooms were decent size. Beds and pillows were sooo comfy. Was helpful that toilet, bathroom and shower were all in diff rooms so diff people could use at the same time. Provided basic staple food such as cereals, milk, butter, bread etc free of charge. Contact details clearly communicated for emergencies.

The shower pressure was really weak but there was a bath! Yay!

Wonderful, friendly hosts. Location was peaceful and quiet and a manageable drive to the main centre of New Plymouth. Pleasant, well kept yard and clean homely feel indoors. Some lovely complimentary items and everything that we needed for family life to be made easy on holiday - microwave, kettle, cooking facilities etc.

I wish we could have stayed longer...overnight stay is not long enough..

The host went far and beyond in providing for myself and my boys..spending New Years eve away..it is our Home away from Home...the house is clean, warm and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped which I am very grateful for..the addition of milk/bread/fruit and yoghurt as complimentary is just beyond my expectations and I am very grateful for.

Superb accommodation. Clean, massive, friendly owner. Great facilities too! Very very worth the money. Although a little out of New Plymouth, but it is very worth it. There is a strawberry farm near the hotel, so go pluck some strawberries if it’s in season!!
