Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandReminder to pack your own body wash. I hadn’t clicked it was the bottom floor and bathroom shared an entranceway with the other floor. But didn’t run into anyone else.
Great view, comfy seating and beds were decent. Excellent communication and responsiveness of hosts

New ZealandThe sliding door from the lounge to the patio out front didn't open. The laundry light didn't work. The hot tap in the kitchen dripped.
The location is good, right across the road from the ocean. The road is busy at times, but little road noise can be heard from inside the bach. The beds were comfortable, the bedside lights were appreciated and I went to sleep immediately after turning out the light. Lots of options for seating, nice lounge chair with footstool, and a long built in couch. The retro-style of the kitchen is cool, with the formica topped table to match, just watch your knees when you pull the chair in at the table. I enjoyed the historical feel of the bach, with photos of past generations making me feel at home and surrounded by the memories embeded in the bach. History books and pamphlets of the area were available, and lots of novels and children's books to read, catering for all tastes. A folder of pamphlets and information sheets is provided on the sideboard with a visitor's book alongside it. The shower was good considering guests have to watch the amount of water used as it is from a spring. Extra facilities included a piano with a lot of sheet music in the stool, a pool table, a radio, and a garden to pick salad vegetables from. At times there must be home-made preserves and chocolate to purchase as a sign on the wall advertised these, but I didn't see any. Car-parking was on the lawn at the front of the bach. There were some luxurious plants and flowers to admire in the garden. Takeaway food shops are a short walk down the road.

New ZealandBeen travelling a few weeks now and this is the first place that didn’t provide a small jug or bottle of milk for coffee/tea. Bit of a surprise at 6.30am coffee time. But it’s also only the second place that had butter. Win some, lose some eh. Only staying one night, and travelling by motorbike, or would have bought milk. Owners live upstairs but quiet, never heard or saw them. Bathroom access is off house entryway at bottom of stairs to their level , bit awkward, you can’t walk around half dressed, and worry about noise travelling up.
Loved being in the family bach, with the photos of family holidays over one wall in the kitchen. Great vibe. Most enjoyable sitting outside on the comfortable chairs reading in the afternoon and watching people pull up at picnic area or Te Araora walkers go by. The jasmine framing this area is so pretty and perfumed. Bed is comfy. Location good, across from water and swimming. Very good pizza, takeaway shop, and a huge dairy a short walk down road.

New ZealandNot a huge issue, but one of the blinds in the lounge/sleeping area was sun-diffusing only, so the room does get light pretty early.
The location is second to none - perfect morning views out over the water, and just a short stroll to the local shops or cafes if you need anything.

New ZealandThe bathroom access was in the entrance to the main property, but this did not cause any privacy issues.
Warm and sunny, north-facing windows. Roomy kitchen and dining. Owners upstairs were very quiet and considerate of our privacy. Family history was obvious in the photos and memorabilia in the Bach.
