Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

No complaint really - just minor recommendations - a basin plug for the ensuite basin (for shaving purposes) and possibly another door key (in lock box) to give flexibility for individuals going out separately
Breakfast - not applicable. Location was good - close/walking distance to town centre. Fire place, heat pumps and hot tub were great, as well as the adequate provision of milk, teas/coffee, breakfast spreads, herbs, oils etc. The family home feel and comms was great. We could check in slightly early as other commitments for the afternoon were cancelled at late notice due to weather - so we managed to relax there for the afternoon.

As soon as I entered, it felt like a welcoming home. While the building was old, it was clean and had good heating, making my stay very comfortable. And above all, the SPA! I experienced pure happiness while gazing at the starry sky. I'm so glad I booked this place.

Fantastic stay, shame it was only one night but would highly recommend it for somewhere to stay in Geraldine. Loved the hot tub, it was very welcome after a long walk earlier in the day.

I can’t think of anything we didn’t like.
Very comfortable and well provisioned, and extremely good for babies and families with toys, equipment, and a playground across the street. It felt far more luxurious than we were expecting, 100% recommend.

By the main road.
Everything was laid onto to make the stay comfortable and well supplied. The addition of the spa pool was a bonus. Feeling was of being welcome there. A good stopover on route.

Everything about this beautiful retreat was exceptional. From the communication to the cleanliness, facilities and comfort, the home is exceptional. We loved the vibe. It was so peaceful and had many beautiful touches. This was the best rental I have ever stayed in. Do not hesitate to book it. It is perfect for an overnight stay on the way to Mt. Cook National Park and surrounding area, or for a longer stay not too far from Christchurch.

A great little town to stop over for a couple of nights while travelling around NZ. The cottage was very homely and spacious - hot tub was lovely, good shower pressure, lots of DVDs. A visit to the Military Museum is a must.

Nothing really. Being picky…Would like to see more natural fibres on bedding. Some crockery needs replacing. A bread knife would be good. Conditioner in second bathroom.
Great location and space. Good size rooms. Well equipped kitchen. Good sized outdoor area.

Needs a can opener in the drawers! 😊 Could do with some more mirrors. A full length one in the main bedroom would be great. Main bedroom is very light in the mornings. Some black out blinds would be an excellent addition.
We had a superb weekend in Geraldine. The house was easy to locate and enter. It had everything we needed and we loved being able to sit outside in the sun for our breakfasts. A very short walk into town for lunch and a wander around the shops. Good sized kitchen and a nice hot tub! The main thing which stood out was the cleanliness. It was immaculate. I did have a wee moment of doubt when we saw the house from the outside but inside it’s great. It was perfect for our group.
