I enjoyed our stay the night, hostess Tarquin was very warm and welcoming. even made us a cake for cuppa. Ideal stay out in Muriwai or travelling through Gizzy. Loved the games room and their garden seating area where you can see the beautiful stars glistening in the openness of the sky. Perfect for families friends passing through couple nights.

We loved our night at The Headland. Lovely service from the lady who runs it (and she even gave us some delicious cake). Check in was super easy. The beds were comfortable and warm. The property is as described - it's about a 25 minute drive from Gisborne town, but it's a pretty drive. We loved the retro vibe in the lounge with 60's style couches and chairs! I much preferred staying here to when we staying in town where we could hear the noise from logging trucks all night.

Need a small TV in room plus a small fridge and even a microwave would make it more attractive . I understand that it is a newly renovated facility and it has the potential to grow into a very popular accommodation lodge. immaculate and clean .Could not log on to wifi .

The lodge had all the facilities immaculate, even though they were shared. Pool and table tennis ,

The Headland Lodge is located on the highway so was a breeze for us to find. We were greeted by the Manager, Tarquin, who couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We had called earlier to ask if checking in earlier was ok, as one of our friends wasn't feeling well. Tarquin was very understanding and said that would not be a problem. Our rooms were very neat and clean and also very comfortable. We were very happy to have access to the communal kitchen to be able to prepare our dinner and then breakfast the following morning. The kitchen was very clean and well equipped.

The bed was a bit springy but that's grasping at straws

Travel back in time to an authentic motorway lodge. The furnishings are from the 70s and exceptionally kept. If you want to experience a retro motorway motel that has been well maintained this is it. A massive kitchen that's fully functional that you can do your own meal prep. A lovely games room with a darts board, pool table, board games and a puzzle still waiting to be completed. Was a lovely touch that the owner's daughter checked in on us and had a bit of a yarn. Good sized room that was spotless and a good shower.
